Got my xbox one on black friday. Created this account and i got a halo 5 bundled xbox and i just wanna know the things i need to know and my buddy told me this was the place i need to go to know!
-play a few missions of campaign before MP, you will need to know the controls
-silver REQ packs are a good idea to purchase, inexpensive and still drop good unlocks
What is exactly what you would like to know buddy? Some tricks maybe?
Buy whatever Req pack you want. I usually go gold. Better stuff for Warzone in them.
Play some games of Warzone. Its more forgiving than arena
I’d start playing Arena last, after playing some campaign. Warzone is pretty fun, and you’re not even pressured to do well in it that much.
Arena is all ranked, so you might want to play it if you want to play for keeps.
Warzone is more a social playlist, it’s all about killing other spartans, capturing bases, and killing aliens.
The Campaign is where I’d start, to get a feel for the controls, finding which control scheme you want, and what sensitivity feels right.
Since you’re new, Normal would be a pretty good difficulty. Heroic is hard, but doable on your first go. Legendary, you would probably want to play on your second go around. Easy is there too, play whichever one feels right!

If you care about story at all I recommend getting the MCC and playing through the campaigns.
Have a go at the campaign to get used to movement, weapons etc. Then check out the multiplayer maps using custom games to get the feel for them. Use the forums for questions, hints and tips. More importantly though, I hope you enjoy the experiences, welcome to the spartan team and remember, do not feed the trolls lol.

The REQs are a feature that is only in Halo 5. You basically unlock booster packs of cards that can be used to customize your Spartan, or, if you’re playing Warzone, can change your equipment when you spawn.

Oh god no bad timing… Why even Halo 5 as a Xbox one opener… you are better off playing PC where there’s more amount of options and games.

People can say its a bad game especially if they played enough games to understand that Halo 5 isn’t a great game, Warzone can get competitive and players play how they feel like. Arena was originally both fun and competitive having ranking only makes it only competitive and you said it you already have to have a skill set going into this game or else you will be bronze rank forever or whichever rank you’re stuck at. Again its not a great game compared to other games when a game requires you to be good and need friends to play to enjoy it the game has failed.
Play through the campaign first. The story will be confusing, but it will be a good intro to the mechanics.
Lots of enemies (and you) have personal energy shields that will recharge.
If something doesn’t have a shield up, shoot it in the head. With semi-auto guns, especially.
When you get to multiplayer, don’t buy gold packs with your REQ points. Not for a long while, at least.

just got my first Xbox myself (…although i’m nearly 35yrs old)))) and with that, i’ve bought a copy of HALO 5 and HALO MCC. myself, i’ve played the campaign twice, as this is my first ever contact with HALO, so that i got used to the controls, aiming, movement, etc.
my first playthrough was on Normal, and right now i’m half-way through Heroic (perfectly doable ‘solo’), and i feel i’m getting a good hang of the ‘game’ and how it plays
…i’ve already played some (four!) PvP games, 2x Slayer and 2x Warzone and here’s what i’ve noticed:
- Warzone tends to be much more ‘forgiving’, although by the time you’ll lear to understand REQs you’ll often end up quite surprised with what’-Yoink!- you
- There’s no “I” in TEAM! even if you enter the lobby on your own, just pick a bunch of teammates and stick with them
- learn to recognize Shielded enemies and those with Shields Down (Shielded = Bodyshots; Shields Down = Headshots)
- use them grenades, learn to aim them
- there’s a Custom Game option, where you can set the timer to ‘infinite’ and run around the map to learn the routes and also spawns, USE IT
- …that’s about it, as i said, only 4 games played ))))
but most of all, just like in any other game you’re new to - do not get discouraged, let alone frustrated - of course you’ll run into players who will slaughter you, just keep in mind they’ve likely been playing this game for a few years now, after a few years you’ll be likely at least as good as they are
