New to HW, is quitting frequent?

I recently started playing Halo Wars multiplayer and I preffer the 3v3 playlist. It seems though that every time I play one or both of my teamates leave within the first thirty seconds. Is this common with everyone or is it because of my low rank? I’m still only a recruit and have a lot to learn but I think Im at least decent, I know the basics on strategy and how to put up a decent fight. Anyway is this common and can I expect it enough to try moving to a 1v1 or 2v2 playlist?

Couldn’t say. I play Halo Wars back at launch. Ordered another copy that should be in tomorrow. So I would be up for a few games. No idea how the community is at this point though.

People quit the most in 3v3, often for stupid reasons. UA is very frustrating if you hate quitters. If you’re good enough you can win by yourself though.

Basically, if you attack in the first 10 minutes you can win by yourself. Most people in 3v3 can’t defend against an early warthog or tank attack…or leader attack for that matter.

Not trying to be obnoxious or anything, but it is most likely your rank. If you have other lower ranks on your team they usually stick around. If you have a General or two on your team and you’re still outranked, the Generals on your team will leave. Depending on who you’re playing against, some Brigadiers and Colonels will quit as well. I’ve experienced this too many times.

Rank in halo wars means precisely Nada. All it means is length of time played. You would hope that if a person has played like 1000 games they’d know what they are doing. This is sadly not true most of the time. I quit from randoms for various reasons. It’s mostly because the current game has gotten incredibly boring. Or I quit because I can already see who’s going to win whether i stay till the end or not it’s a 1 sided fight from here on.

Most people are boosting to General. If they don’t see the friend they’re trying to match with, they quit out.

I’m only a Lieutenant in the game (I started late on this game’s Multiplayer), and, yes, I’ve seen my fair share of 30 second games. It’s not only annoying, but it’s recurrent, as the server will often put you back with the person you just “beat”.

I never said rank meant anything. I did say that Generals do leave the game often, and I’m not attacking you, but you did prove my point. Whether your intentions are good or not, I just hate it when people leave so early. It’s one thing to leave the game after all of YOUR units are dead and you can’t do anything, but if your teammate is being attacked, that doesn’t mean you should leave, no matter how bad you’re losing. The only person who should quit is your teammate, he’s the one under attack.

When I have low ranks on my team, I suck it up, try to rush, and see what happens. If it fails, then there’s a chance the game will end early, if not, who cares. I still enjoy the game, even if I lose. As long as I put up a good fight during a loss, I have to admit, Halo Wars is still a fun game.

Alright guys thanks for all the feedback, I think Ill try some 1v1 for a while until I learn the ropes.

Yeah, there’s a lot of losers that quit early. I find that more often than not it’s the generals that quit because they see leader combos/placement and ranks, and have already decided the game is lost before it’s begun. It’s pretty pathetic really, most of the lower ranks stay but once they get rushed they don’t know how to cope and they’ll surrender lol

I guess that’s how things go since its unarranged. It could be worse, if you’ve ever played League of Legends solo queue you might think HW has the best community

EDIT: I will say though, once you get higher trueskill, leaving substantially decreases. After trueskill 30 you’ll get a leaver maybe 1/5 games. Yea i’d suggest raising your rank/experience in 1v1, once you’ve got a handle on it jump into 3s

What I mean by when it’s a one sided fight is those many situations when It gets to about 25 mins in to the game I have full pop of units, my allies still have a grand total of about 3 un-upgraded tanks or hornets…Often I’m lucky if they even have that. And t the same time all of the enemy team have full pop of units and i’m fighting a losing battle alone, times like that I just leave. No point wasting any more time with that match may as well move on to the next one.

If it’s a case of team mate getting rushed I go to help if i can, if i don’t think i have enough to defend I attack the guy who’s attacking him to force him to pull back to defend.

Basically what I’m saying is I stay until it becomes clear which team will win after that there isn’t much point staying (That also occasionally includes wins. since if you quit and your team wins it still counts as a victory for you if my tam is oing to win regardless of whether i stay i tend to leave.)

Sorry, but I didn’t read the novel of response everyone colaborated on, so this might have been mentioned.

Some people may quit seeing someone of such low rank, if there build is total -Yoink-.
make sure you not going reactor, reactor, barracks… or some crap like that.

I don’t see why somebody would quit because they scout a horrid build. Personally I accept I’m playing a baddy and take it as an opportunity to practice other things (my own build, micro’ing against the neutrals, etc). Since you can go kill them at any time, there’s no risk.
