New to Halo, Need help, tips, advice.

Hi All,

If this is the wrong space to post this topic I apologize.

I am brand spanking new to halo, its universe, weapons, enemies etc…

Halo 4 however doesn’t seem to contain any sort of tutorials on how to play the game. It took me a while to figure out that when you pick up weapons it replaces the current one, and even how to run.

I find running to be really difficult, I can keep it pressed and Chief will run for a little while and then stop, is there a timer on this?

Back to the point, I die, alot. and I only have the game on normal. I am not entirely sure if I need to be clearing the area or if I need to run past some of the enemies?

I watched alot of 343 videos where they talk about how players will have to figure out tactics per battle, but for new players its difficult. I am learning all the player behavior and enemy types on the fly, what weapons do what, when to switch, which ones can zoom.

I got to the end of chapter two and I was fighting these two large aliens with shields, there were these white guys shooting lasers at them to seemingly draw their attention but everytime I got close, I just got bashed and died.

Is there a way to sneak up on these guys?

I tried to fly a large purple ship and shoot down two other jets of the same type. The other two were doing these cool backflips but I couldn’t figure out how to do it. Learning the enemies and weapons is kind of fun, but hiding gameplay control for a vehicle is not. How do you control this thing?

Is there a tutorial mode in this game I am missing? Or do I just need to go play the other halo games?

p.s. I play other shooters quite heavily and games in general, halo is just an entirely different beast.

Welcome aboard sluntchop

If I may ask, what games have you played previously? Perhaps I can draw comparisons.

First things first though - Halo is build upon a 3 rule system - guns, jumping, grenades. Use all 3 at all times. The key to succeed is to master those 3 categories and sub-categories (i.e. DMR vs. BR)

I could not find a sprint timer myself. The only reason I know there is one (assuming) is because of Halo: Reach. Can anyone correct this or confirm?

You do NOT need to clear an area, merely just proceed to the next objective in most cases. I personally enjoy clearing swaths of Covenant though.

Those 2 big guys you encountered are referred to as Hunters. In that section, just keep your distance and throw everything you have at them. Be prepared to jump a lot.

Left bumper and thumbstick direction controls maneuvers in Banshees (purple ships). There is no tutorial mode per say, however feel free to add me and I can show you some tricks and tips in a private game.
