New Theory on Guardians (Not H5G per se)

An idea just ocurred to me after watching the 10 short clips of the “Experience” and noticing that a Guardian can easily move through Slipspace. It may or not be related to the actual plotline of the campaign, but it might actually explain more about the original purpose of Guardians. As in, their name should be enough to suggest that they’re meant to guard something, right?

So, what if they were built during the Human-Forerunner War? What if they were meant to guard other planets from the impending advance of the human race throughout the stars as they fled from the Flood? Part of the reason why they could be buried beneath the ground and are designed to shut most tech off would be as a sort of nasty surprise for humans if they tried to take over another world, attacking them or at least holding them off until the cavalry arrived.

That could explain why no Guardian has ever been found on Earth despite five centuries of advanced sattelite imagery mapping the planet. As for the colonies, maybe the sites where the Guardians were placed were regions of planets where there would be less damage to other civilizations’ infrastructure before the Halo Event . Humanity after that could’ve just been unlucky enough to place major population centers on top of the Guardians.

Now, with the Guardians awakening, they could still pose a threat to all humans if their programming is still set to attack them. In the latest HTT episode, Dasc Gevadim is pretty convinced that their appearance is ‘only the beginning’ of the ‘spiritual genocide’, and if he does have any intel about the Guardians (maybe he was the one to activate them while in hiding even?), then it is safe to asume that more destruction and death is still to come. Who knows? Maybe there are more than only seven Guardians out there?

It’s just a theory, and it’s probably not going to pan out (just like a couple other theories I’ve posted here in the forums), but it would be nice to be right for once, and if I am… Well, let’s just say I do have enough of an ego to want to make it known publicly. :stuck_out_tongue:
