New Story Elements From Halo: Escalation

So I understand that a lot of people may not read the comic series “Halo: Escalation”, but there is some very important story information that is presented throughout the series that I feel the public should be aware of. For that reason, I am posting a spoiler below with the most important facts from issues 1-15 (all current issues) for those who do not see themselves reading the comics. There is a lot more to the story than I will post, but I am just sticking to the most important facts and in very short detail for the sake of the thread. If you would like more information please let me know, or read through the comics. Anyways, here is is:

  • The Flood are not gone.
Yes, our dreaded enemy is not dead. During the first story arc, we find out that Captain Cutter’s (from Halo Wars) son is angry with Admiral Hood. You see, Admiral Hood was supposed to find some space logs that would help the UNSC locate the Spirit of Fire after it entered slip space. However, Admiral Hood was aggressive and attacked the Flood at Arcadia rather than holding back, causing him to retreat, and lose the space logs. Due to that, the Spirit of FIre has been lost for over 30 years, and Captain Cutter’s son blames Admiral Hood for that loss. At the end of the story arc, Admiral Hood talks of his hopes of finding the Spirit of Fire one day, hopefully with it’s crew intact. During the final scene, we see a derelict Spirit of Fire driving through space, and then we go into a cryo-chamber where an alert is sounding, with all cryotubes open. Finally, we see a Flood infection form scurry across the floor. This shows that the Flood are NOT GONE, and may pose a threat later in the series.

  • The Didact didn’t die at the end of Halo 4, and there are 6 other Composers.
In the second story arc, we begin with Chief being debriefed by heads of ONI, the Army, the Navy, etc. about the events of Halo 4. In his debriefing, they ask if the Didact is dead. Master Chief states that he hit him with a grenade that send him falling into a slipspace fissure, but he cannot confirm the kill. Later, Chief is sent on a mission with Blue Team (Fred, Linda, & Kelly) to Gamma Halo to investigate a missing science team and Spartan Black team. They find out that both teams have been killed, and later we discover that it is due to the Didact himself. On Gamma Halo, they discover a portal to the Composers Forge where the composers are created, as well as the Composer’s Abyss, where all the souls that the composer captures are stored. There, they find 6 more composers ready to be used, and the Didact himself there. After narrowly escaping the fight, Blue Team teams up with a new monitor who resided over the Composers Forge who is upset that the Didact brought his Prometheans to the Composers’s Forge. Together, they fight the Didact, and are able to use the composer on the Didact and store his soul away. However, this does not mean the Didact is gone, and could perhaps return as something more.

We are now into the 3rd story arc, and us readers are patiently awaiting to see where the story leads us, and how it ties into Halo 5: Guardians.

i should really read these

I promise that it’s worth it.
