New species

Do you want the halo universe to stay with the species we all know or do you want to see new alien races being introduce in the story ?

New species only need to be added were the story requires it. Bloating it with extra species is just bloat. Beyond being “new” what does a new species bring? Most typical sci-fi archetypes are covered already by the various ones that exist.

The Yonhet in Nightfall are already dangerous territory, as they fill a roll a grunt or jackal could have already covered superbly.

Halo has a lot of alien species that are still waiting to be further developed and explored, before there’s a need to make up new ones. Brutes were executed pretty bad in Halo 2, and in Halo 3 Bungie did a lot of redesigning to make them more interesting to fight. However, at the same time they had to fill the gap left from removing Elites as enemies, and in doing so the Brutes sort of became “Elites 2.0”. In Reach, they were very dumbed down and didn’t do much to elaborate on Brute behavior, as Elites were once again the main adversary.

I’d like to see Brutes make an appearance in Halo 5 with care taken to set them apart from other enemies and expand on the original idea of a very powerful pack-oriented alien race that never really got it’s chance to shine. I believe there can be more to them than just big dumb bullet-sponges.

Another than that, the only new alien I would like to see would be the Sharquoi, whatever that may be.

I’ve said this in a number of threads before, but I wish we’d fought brutes in halo 4 instead of elites. They fit the savage guerilla fighter look so much better than elites do. Even if their leader was “Brute Jul”, people could easily have picked it up as stragglers of halo 3 without having to go read Kilo-5.

The Precursors appearance in distant future halo game would be awesome.

I definitely would like for them to add new species, as well as explain more about the ones we already know about.

I would like to see a new species, as long as they were properly introduced and well written/had a good appearance.

I agree with both of you. But, the forerunners need to make another appearance as a whole species/army against the flood

They added Skirmishers to the covenant at one point, so they should add more in my opinion. More covenant more challenges, more story XD

The skirmishers aren’t a separate race though, simply a sub-species of Jackal.

Skirmishers are the Jackals. Just in different roles. trained differently. That’s like saying the air force and the marines are different species.

yea they need to add a big and a difficult enemy

Agreed

A role the Sharquoi would fit nicely.

I’ve become very fascinated with the Sharquoi even since the Covenant Fringe was introduced.

Only if it can be executed well and the story demands it.

Too many aliens to fight and you would end up only encountering them a hand full of times during the game.
I think Reach only had one interaction with the Drones.

There’s a lot of content that could still be created with the species we have now but I don’t think it would hurt to add more to the timeline.

I’d love to see the different drone ranks return in the next halo, but in substantially smaller groups.Example would be the Drone Leader from ODST.
I’d also like more covenant species, killing them is a lot more realistic and rewarding than killing a glowing, proto-robot.

Either that or some form of actual terrestrial enemy who feels actually alive.

The yonhets are a disgrace to the halo universe…they better go back to the star wars bar scene

I agree with lemon cup… I think there is already a wealth of species and exploration to be done with the current universe as it stands. I’m not really a big fan of the Yonhet, and as someone else already pointed out, Axl’s role could have easily been filled by a Kig Yar
