New Special Effects Please!

I’m a forger, I love to forge. Wile forging alot of time went into thinking stuff about forge, and how to make my maps so much cooler… One I thing I thought back in the halo reach days while forging, I though man wouldn’t it be cool if in halo 4 we could have Enviroment effects? Of course I didn’t know if it was possible with the Xbox 360, it now I’m wondering about the Xbox one. It’s amazing and powerful.

So here’s my idea of Enviroment effects which are basically the same thing as special effects when forging:
Raining effect
Snowfall effect
Nighttime effect
Ashing effect (ash falling from sky as if a nuke or large fire is happening)
Sandstorm effect
Flood effect (we all know how the flood affect e enviroment)

I can’t really think of anymore but you get the idea.
It would also be cool for these effects to happen like snowfall you could actually see the ground with snow on it, forge pieces with snow on them also.
I think these effects would really add to forging in halo Xbox one.
What do yous think? Vote for the poll please! If you have any ideas please post them, I’ll add them to the list!
Thanks!

I don’t understand the poll answers.

OT: If these make it to the game, we musn’t forget about Sandstorms and Fog.

I would love environmental effects in Forge.
You have my support.

This kind of thing has been brought up a lot. It would be awesome to have these kind of things. Check out this video at the time of around 5:20. I address Forge directly a little later in the video too.

I agree. Having these special effects would be awesome! I’ve always wanted to make a snowy level.

Nice video.
I subscribed.

I don’t forge much, but I’d do it a lot more often if we could change stuff like that.

It’s either yes, or yes basically. I didn’t want to put no because there’s basically no reason to say no, there’s no negative aspect to it, and in my time being on the forums, people will vote no, just to vote for it.

But a sandstorm, fog, or like a “flood” effect where well… We all know how the enviroment gets affected by flood lol

Hell yes… I totally want this sh***… the only problem or the reason I think they cant do it is because each enviromental effect needs to affect completely the enviroment to look realistic or at least to make it look like its really happening

EJ: Rain must create water puddles around many places, and water must flow trough some curved areas or irregular terrain, The sky must look darker and have rain clouds (at least I think thats not too hard to make) and and maybe flood some places too, snow basically must cover all the damn place on snow, otherwhise where the hell do all the snow ends at?!, with sandstorm the place must also get partially or completely covered on sand, ashfall at least partially covered on ashes, Flooded must have some flood affected places around otherwhise theres no origin to all those flood spores flying around.

All this cant be done just by switching some textures or changeing some light tones, wich means they must remake the same map for each enviromental effect, then save all their variants on a single map file in order to have the map with those effects, and then call the variant map to switch with the one you’re using for the the one with the effect you want when you place the effect orb, and that may take a whole lot of memory space wich may slow the game performance and possibly cause some lag issues on them.

The most easy to make is the night effect because that one can be done by actually just lowering the light intensity and maybe just switching the sky texture for a night sky one

But as you said, the XBOX ONE seems to be more powerfull, I hope that it can hold something big like this because I have been waiting for forge upgrades like this on future titles for so damn long…

Wasn’t Bungie originally going to have these in Forge World but then had to cut them due to time constraints?

I’d kill for the opportunity of being able to change the environmental effects of my map, and we’ve even got an example of this in Halo 4 with the map Longbow having different weather effects.

This is a wonderful idea! It would be very cool to have weather effects.

That would have been cool, but do you got a source?

I want a water level with tsunamis and stuff and a lot of storming.

> I want a water level with tsunamis and stuff and a lot of storming.

Now that would be freaking awesome.

I first thought you were talking about armor effects returning throws up internally

No, but yeah. More forge effects would be appreciated.

Weather would be difficult. It would look awkward if you built a rainy or snowy level with a tunnel or cave. And snow or rain going though your structures.

Unless it was dynamic. And if something was in the way rain couldn’t get though. I believe Halo 4 did something with lighting. So its getting there

Definitely think that weather effects would be really nice.

Would be great for those that make machinimas as well

I want to have an effect that has litle snow flakes howering around you x) like from the head to the mid body.

I know and that would be some killer maps that could be made.
