I was thinking about what some new abilities could be and one idea I thought of was ‘Horn’.
When activated it could emit a loud horn type sound that frightens and confuses the enemy. This could be interesting and could add alot to the gameplay and would be very strategic. For example you could hide behind a corner and when someone runs past you activate your horn AA which will scare them out of their wits and as they’re turing around in panic trying to find the source of the noise you could get behind them and assassiante them… all thanks to the Horn. Maybe steam or something could issue out of the joints in the armor as you’re honking the Horn. Anyway it could be a good way to distract enemies.
Another good idea I thought of for a new spartan ability is “Hack”. This allows you to hack into the armor of someone on the other team and gain complete control of their actions for a short time. While you have control over them you could make them commit suicide by blowing themselves up or jumping off the map etc causing them to lose a point or you could make them betray their own teammates. This ability would be balanced as the person who is doing the hacking would remain stationary in their own armor and left vulnerable while they are controlling an enemy. I was thinking the Hack would last for only 10 seconds and be limited to perhaps only 5 Hacks available per match so it’s not abused too much.
Another idea is “Undercover”, this gives you the ability to change the color of your spartan to the same color as your enemy.
For example playing red vs blue… if you’re red then you activate the Undercover ability making your spartan appear blue so that you can trick the other team into thinking you are a friendly. By going Undercover you will infiltrate your enemy team, gain their trust, learn from them, become one of them as you bring them down from the inside.Obviously for balance purposes the color change will only be temporary.
Next one is “Play Dead”, when activated your spartan will fall to the ground and appear as a regular dead body.
For example, as an enemy is running along minding his own business and runs straight past you thinking you are just another body on the ground you will deactivate the ability causing you to be able to jump back to life and kill him…
You would need to make sure that no enemy actually sees you activate the ability otherwise they’ll kill you while you’re down because they’ll know you’re just feigning.
Another good example of how this would be useful is if you’re in the middle of a fight with someone you could activate the “play dead” ability making them think they won the battle only for you to surprisingly jump back up and kill him…
These sound like things that would be fun for minigames or better suited for a class based game. Play Dead and Undercover were things you could do as the Spy in Team Fortress Classic.
In my opinion these would just be frustrating to deal with, especially hack. I think it’s just time for the concept of spartan abilities to retire.

Nice and all, but they seem like joke abilities than something good. It kind of reminds me of perks for Call of Duty. it wont be there, sorry.
I would prefer that Armor Abilities return over Spartan Abilities. As for some of the more powerful Armor abilities (i.e. jetpack) turn off the recharge for those. Sprint/Evade/Clamber can keep the recharge.
no spartan abilities please, I hated them In halo 5. I didn’t mind armor abilities (not armor lock) but not in loadouts. I loved equipements from halo 3 because you had to find them in a map.
I’m sorry but these just seem gimmicky. We need to go back to classic Spartan gun fire. They are augmented super soldiers trained to fight, not use gimmicky James Bond type gadgets by playing dead and blowing horns.

only one I liked was vehicle seat swapping. Evade was better in reach and 4 than thrust. I don’t like the way that everyone in halo 5 has it.
If they are going to bring armor abilities back, it should be without loadouts and find them in the map instead like equipments in halo 3

Yes I agree vehicle seat swapping was a good add. I feel that was less of a spartan ability and just better play mechanics.

funny thing is for Reach no body in Bungie thought to make armor abilities as a map feature out side of the loadouts even though it was completely doable in forge. I like the load outs for Reach because they were tied to the game type/map and not just something for players to min-max so everyone but the noobs start out with the best loadout. Still some of the power weapons and armor abilities should be placed on the map, the loadouts should be basic such as a basic automatic weapon, a basic medium range precision weapon or a basic utility load out (like a needler). Put basic armor abilities (sprint, evade, and make clamber an armor ability) have a recharge while the power armor abilities don’t (jetpack, active camo, armor lock).

It would make sense for them to be map pickups with limited charge. Spartan suits have a charge and could only sustain some powers for a bit.

These might be ok in Custom Games or Action Sack!! Just not very good for general gameplay in Campaign/Slayer modes. I like the thought you put into it though!
As much as I like the enhanced movement of Halo 5, some of the mechanics are either too powerful, too gimmicky, or not needed. In order to streamline and ground the combat, I think that sprint, slide and clamber should be mainstays in MP. Sliding does allow for abit of traversal advantages in firefights, and allows players to div we sify their movement chains. Sprint probably wont go anywhere, and the way it was implemented in H5, while somewhat controversial, was balanced well, and wasn’t mandatory for player, yet it did have advantages. Clamber felt good, and while some argue its merits, I liked being able to grab ledges and increase vertical traversal of the map, or string movement chains.
Smart Scope should return, but give it more of a stylistic fair. Rather than the typical aim down sights, maybe the play wet model should rotate the gun over, and show that slick augmented holo projection. Not on all models.

I never really did. If I used it, people never (rarely) knew what to do. If used against me, I could time grenades, gun fire, or melee to wreck them as they came out.
