I just brainstormed a new Spartan ability that I feel would work well with Halo 5’s movement theme.
Name: Spartan Jump (placeholder)
Effect: When activated, Spartan jump allows you to make one charged jump about 2x higher than a normal jump, at the cost of draining half of your energy shields. The cool down for this ability would be one minute (it would be shown as an upward arrow icon on the HUD similar to an AA in Halo 4)

When people said clamber would break map verticality I thought they were being ridiculous. Double jump, on the other hand, would. With jetpack being left out they can finally take risks with vertical positions instead of making flat levels so that jetpack wasn’t OP, I think that should remain without any ridiculous upward jumps that would prohibit level design and just cause problems. Extra jumps should absolutely be a thing for customs though.
Not a fan of this particular idea. Being penalized for executing the jump only creates annoyance, and the time delay is not frequent enough to be consistently viable. Moreover it brings the same random and drastic shifts with line of sight that Jet Pack brought to Halo. No thanks.
However, the notion of a double jump is not something I am completely against. Perhaps something more straightforward like a wall jump. Other Arena FPS games use wall jumps to effectively achieve a double jump. I think it could work with Halo’s new movement mechanics.

I actually think a wall jump would be pretty cool. It would add another level of skill similar to crouch jumps, and also another way to counter melee attackers like a ninja!

kicking off a wall sure, but not upward like titanfall, just diagonal would be fine.

I agree there. Maybe a 45 degree angle off the wall, but have the jump require good timing.

Well I think we should bring back Armor Lock!
