As we know, skins are going to be a regular feature with every update, 343 wants to keep the req system loaded and the art designers need stuff to keep busy.
So what skins would everyone like to see?
I think some adaptive skins would be nice. With each different map, or each different team skins could vary.
For example red a blue variants of the same skins would be used when on each team. Also with each map having an environment theme, warzone maps in particular, adaptive camos would work great. Arctic camos for snowy maps, urban for inside maps and noctus etc…
Another cool skin that would need to be quite high res to work properly would be metallic skins. Gold guns , while personally I don’t like them, are a common occurrence in games and I’d personally much prefer a silver plated weapon to one with painted stripes on. Metal weapons also give the opportunity for colour tempering or case hardening the metal to get rainbow patterns on them, think of oil slicks if you haven’t seen it before.
Also maybe crossover skins with Xbox exclusive franchises? Perhaps a lancer themed assault rifle?
I think the idea of having different colored metals is interesting. CSGO has case-hardened, silver, blue-steel, rust, scorched, etc. I absolutely hate the idea of pure gold guns though, just looks ridiculous. I like Gold Standard because the gold accents look refined, without being overwhelming.
Camos are a given. I think they should add some basic Camos as Common-Quality skins to offset all the wacky stuff.
A handful of rare crossover skins isn’t a bad idea.

UNSC weapons should look fairly militaristic or space faring in nature. That means as a general rule primary colors should only be Black, Grey, Silver, Brown, or Olive, with vibrant colors only being used as subtle accents and trims. Nornfang and Oathsworn are decent examples of this. So long as you stick to those guidelines you probably won’t go wrong.Stop painting everything bright white with vibrant racing stripes. Should be striving for a military feel, not a sports feel. At this point I’d say just avoid using the color white altogether.Stop with solid blue, solid red, solid green, etc. skins. They don’t look fitting either.Some quick ideas:
-Oni
-Corp (I’m fine with industrial looking skins)
-Worn (Scratched Metal, Rusted Metal)
-Skins with decals, such as Flames. Or that Halo 4 skin with the shark teeth, or the one with the blood splatter.
Yeh good ideas, the oni and Corp etc sets to match the vehicles are a good idea, I bet machining people would enjoy that.
but definitely stay away from anymore rainbow/ pink skins. They just look silly imo.
Thought about a few more.
wooden stocks and grips for some weapons, along with a steel barell they’d look more old timey.
Luminous/ fluorescent skins. They’d work nicely in dark maps. Not taking about full high lighter jacket green all over just black guns with highlighted trims.
Covenant themed weapons, with the blue to purple metallic materials.
My favorite was when they put the Flamethrower Shark Decal on the Halo 4 Assault Rifle. If they put this in Halo 5 and had it available for the Battle Rifle and DMR as well I’d be so happy.
