So what does everyone think of the new ranks. Is it that we have gotten better since launch and most of us are higher ranks? Or is it a balance to keep the Standard Normal Curve for the remaining population?
Well considering they are ranking you excatly at your hidden MMO rank no one has actually gotten better or worse. You are just ranked exatly where you should be by whatever ranking formula they use. I think it’s better because I don’t like hidden ranks. If they don’t want to show exact ranks on the screen to avoid players quitting out if they see higher ranks that’s fine. But a player should always know excatly where they stack up. There shouldn’t be this here is your rank but your actual rank is this hidden thing we won’t show you.

For example, I had never ranked higher than plat 4 in breakout and was a high gold last season. I was ranked as a diamond 5 with only winning 3 of 10 games. That’s where the confusion is

They used to shave off CSR points before after your placement matches. They aren’t don’t that this season.

I’m guessing it has to do with that plus your performance (even if you lose the match). Just curious how/if the overall decreased population is having an effect as well

Not really confused, but i will give it a read for sure. Is it different from the update prior to the release?
It’s just a better overall post about why you are placed where you are this season, vs. where you were last season. Good reference for the majority of questions folk have had since the update launched

Well just read it, and you will see. It had more detailed explanation as to what is happening with the TS2. Also any questions you have Josh will more than likely give you an answer.
I would suggest reading the whole thread and give it a follow so you can keep up with it. Also give his twitter a follow. Josh is very active there as well.
So last season I played a lot of breakout so that I could get my champ rank this season I played elimination and got ranked d1. Also I was onyx in slayer and wc ffa which most people no matter how they did there 10 games. I’m just confused on how the hidden ranks work because a lot of people who worked for there high ranking through different game types got low ranks this season
Also a lot of players who I matched in breakout last season and were only onyx and players that didn’t get onyx got high onyx or got champ in 10 games

The new ranks have let me know that I don’t suck that much. I’ve been having closer matches than before, although the matching up takes longer. In the pinned thread, it was said that they might switch it back next season, but I’d be ok if they left it there.
The fact that I have pretty much been challenging low diamonds as a platinum player really gives me a sense of achievement. Although I got decimated in placements and still got high plat somehow.
