New season every month necessary?

First rotation through a new season. I was a bit surprised there is a new season every month. Most games I’ve played are every quarter or so - and there’s usually only 5 placement matches. This system seems a bit excessive.

Why does halo 5 need a new season every month and 10 placement matches?

I personally like it (could still use some tweaking a though). It’s a good way to see how much you’re improving ever single month it resets. Am I getting ranked hire every month? Is my monthly KDA going up or down after rests? Ect ect. I think it’s just a good way to see how we progress every month.

It’s mainly for the pros, hard for them to find matches when in champion rank.

I prefer Halo 3’s ranking, but I think Halo 5’s is pretty cool. I’d enjoy it more if I were a better player.

I’ve bolded that part because this was my experience getting placed in Team Slayer yesterday with the same 3 people:

  • friend A’s KD 1.3 - placed Diamond 4
  • friend B’s KD 0.9 - placed Diamond 1
  • my KD 1.2 - placed Platinum 4
*(KD is for the placement games overall)*Really makes no sense to me :S does it take in to account your last seasons ranking too when giving you your new season rank? Because both of my friends ended last season in high Diamond whereas I stayed in Platinum and didn’t bother as much with team slayer. However, my understanding was that it only uses your last season ranking to determine who you get matched against for your placement matches, rather than for actually determining your rank? If it’s just going to keep me at my last season rank, what was the point in needing to complete new placement matches?

This is what I mean by the ranks could use some tweaking. Supposedly it’s supposed to take your last season into account, along with you winning %in your placement matches, not sure if it takes your actual performance into account (which I can believe). My issue is when I play better than my friends and we win the same amount of games and they get placed higher than me. I still like the current setup, it’s much better than reach and h4s and I’m one of those guys who’ll take what I can get.

I like it the way it is but I think Id like it better if the seasons were just alittle longer

I think it only takes wins into account because I carried my friend through 10 placement matches winning almost all of them they he placed higher than me

I hate it. It’s broken

I think I prefer something the length of the preseason. Maybe make them 3 months.

I like the rank reset, it makes arena more competitive

Yeah I’ve had that happen but always assumed the friends that place higher have a better KD. Forgot to mention, of those 10 games which the 3 of us did together we won 9.

I would prefer a longer season. Like 3 months per season.

Because the game wants to see if you’ve gotten better. If you versed the same people this season as you did last season but you placed the same, then you have been placed accordingly. The game is correct, you haven’t gotten better since last season.
