Minutes ago, Josh Holmes posted an introduction to REQ packs that you can check out here. There’s also a video that goes along with it here that shows very small amounts of new gameplay.
It’s got some pretty cool information and new pictures of some of the REQ items in the game.
P.S. Mods, I wasn’t sure if it was cool to make a new thread on this or not with the official thread sticked to the top but I figured that more people would see it this way. Go ahead and lock if you think that’s necessary.
This is one of the coolest new additions to halo. This alone adds some much replay value to the game. The fact you can discard cards that you dont want for points to get more is great.
All the options you can get is awesome and i cant wait to CATCH 'EM ALL =]
I think the new assassinations and armor will be awesome to get. The skins will be freakin sweet too

I 100% agree. If the current skins/armor/assassinations are indicative of anything, H5 will be AMAZING!
I’m still wondering how the attachments to guns will be handled and if any of the armor from Halo Online will be making a return.
This reminds me of crates from CSGO so much. I’m so yoinking pumped.
It also has that Reach style of earning points to buy stuff… my wish has come true. Not to mention updates adding even more items and skins.
Anyone notice the military style ranking on the SR cards? I hope that’s an indication we get a military styled rank under our number, which is similiar to what BF4 does.
This added more excitement. Now I wait for all the negativity to bring me down.
I was a bit skeptical on the whole system before, but now I couldn’t be more hyped. This will add so much more replayability to the game and I’m glad about that. I want to be able to play over and over till I finally get that REQ I’ve been playing my life for.
Some may still think otherwise, but I personally believe that this is going to be a great addition to Halo 5. Couldn’t be more excited.
So… according to the article, you can gain permanent boosts to things like your sprinting speed or the number of grenades you carry. I just lost what little interest I had in Warzone.
That Helljumper helmet caught my eye. We are getting more and more campaign armor in MP. Hopefully we get MC’s new armor. On a side note, that backbreaker assassination is a must for me. Thank you 343.

I don’t think you read the part that you have to gain the number of energy in the corner of the card to use them. You can’t just spam them like you’re thinking. Yes, I know the cards in the blog post don’t have a number, but according to what it says, that’s how it will work.
Permanent means that once you use it it’s not gone forever and you’re forced to open another REQ pack to get it.
I love the new system and cant wait to earn req packs, but one two things concern me:
The problem, like all loot systems, is that you cant intentionally unlock a specific armor piece. I mean, I really want helljumper but what will it take to get it? I feel things tied to the story should be unlockable seperately.
Another thing I noticed, not a complailt, but i found it funny that they have the same number of tiers and coloring as destiny’s items. Grey conmon, green uncommon, blue rare, purple ultra rare, yellow legendary. Again not a complaint, just funny.
