Look at Halo CE through MCC, they didn’t use Microtransactions, they used fairly price dlc map packs, and that DID work, people who complain about not having the 5-15 dollars to spend on the packs were just lazy, there are many ways to earn money, even for kids, mow a lawn, clean your room, clean your bathrooms (if you are a kid still stuck with your parents), hell maybe just sell something you don’t use anymore, either way it didn’t split the community, the community split itself.

I dunno about you, but grinding seems to be the ONLY reason people play H5 anymore, to complete the armory, and max out their SR, then odds are they’ll go back to MCC or Reach, never to return. I stick around for a few reasons, one of which is the Forge to this day blows my mind. Sure it’s annoying, and just as buggy as the rest of the game, but with prefabs added, so many possibilities, for Forgers such as myself. But I’m getting off track. Long story short, I wanna pick and choose what armor I unlock, not roll the dice for a lame resking that doesn’t even look cooler than the original.

I agree as well. As much as the RNG nature of the REQ system is annoying, I have to say that it’s nice to have all DLC be free. Back in the days of Halo 3 (and Reach), I bought all of the DLC as it came out. While we could play the maps in the dedicated DLC playlists, it was a borderline miracle to see those maps in normal playlists, at least until ODST came out.
At least, this way, the community isn’t split and we can all play every map. It may not be perfect, but the REQ system is a good step forward from the old DLC system.
