I think if you want it to be based on skill, do arena FFA. you still rank up if you donât win a game, think you still gain positive xp finishing in the top three, more depending if your 1st, 2nd or 3rd. donât do so well and you lose xp. So I find FFA works fine, as itâs definitely skill based as youâve got a 1/8 chance of winning, all things even, so would be impossible to rank up.
I keep to FFA and only do team arena with people on my friends list and sometimes gamble a random.
The most successful ranking system was Halo 3, i donât feel threatened in this game by higher level players - saying that i donât even notice what level other players are anymore. itâs a mess.

totally agree. You should get some slack when youâre at the top of the team and if you lose enough with a bad kda you should be able to drop divisions
I feel like they should use halo 3 ranking as we were ranked with the badge and title, as well as returning to halo reachâs armor system. I enjoyed wearing a combination of different armor pieces instead of one solid armor set⌠and alot of game modes would effect ranking but you need to implement firefight for halo fans that like to crush aliens⌠i miss that⌠along with forge⌠why must every game that updgrades be a downgrade in a way⌠keep newly introduced modes and add on. this game is missing better customization options for your spartan, forge and firefight⌠Also the last thing in my opinion is being an elite⌠i never was but i enjoyed the storyline so much i would be an elite sworn to service with the UNSC to protect the human race. I love halo

They should have a competitive ranking system like Halo 3, that is the one that worked the best imo.

I believe you canât place any higher than platinum when doing your unranked placement games. You have to rank up into onyx and champion from your placement, so heâs been given the highest placement ranking available. Pretty sure you always get placed as rank 1, in whichever band you rank in (bronze - platinum). Work your way up from there.

That is not true, I have become Diamond and even Onyx on some playlists after my first 10 games, so it is possible to get a high rank after your placement games.

the right ranking system should consider the result of the match and your personal contribuition (medals, k/h/d ratio)
They did it best in 3 I suppose itâs just been to much work to reimplement or something

Halo 3 ranking system id agree was the best. and id also agree that far too many quiters in ur team ppl are not punished hard enough for quitting

Given time I feel the ranking system will equal itselt out. Also people do have off games.
