I know right it really gets me angry sometimes.
Feel free to see the light and come back to the MCC. The Halo 2/3 skill based ranking system is the best and MCC has that (with the exception of Halo 3’s military badge ranks).

You’ll still lose rank in Halo 5 if you lose, difference is, you’ll never rank down out of your current division.
Since when did Halo become League of Legends. Ffs.
Are you saying your rank is affected by your own teammate, not just your own performance?!

Pretty much, yes. If you are doing well, but your team sucks and causes you to lose, your CSR (competitive rank) goes down.
We are all suggesting that this be changed to it judging your personal performance…

OMG, no wonder why this forum was made. Basicly, your don’t have a rank, just a team rank.

Did you stop to think that maybe that person was unranked and was still in his first 10 games of that playlist. That happens to me all the time.

That’s what your Spartan Rank is. It’s in the game. If you don’t want to lose because of randoms on your team, don’t play with randoms.
couldnt agree more

This happens all to often.
There is nothing wrong with the ranking system, I am one who usually gets those types of teammates and I still win games. There are many variables to why some one only gets a kill or if any at all. The only thing that needs to be tweaked here is the way the server finds matches. As a diamond rank i shouldnt play against or with anyting lower than platinum. Also with or against anything higher than onyx. if this tweak never takes place then so be it im sure they have reasons.
This community is really bad at articulating thoughts…
You say the ranking system is flawed because you get bad teammates. But we’ve seen that an individual performance based system like Halo 4’s CSR was way too easy to rank up in, we’ve seen a progression system akin to Halo: Reach and Halo 4’s SR ranks essentially makes the game a grind, so it’s generally agreed we need a win based system.
343i give that, and use divisions akin to what most competetive games use (See League of Legends, SMITE and Black Ops 2) and people complain.
Bad teammates isn’t a ranking system flaw, it’s a matchmaking one.

Yes, use the BPR from Reach. It uses frickin everything. KD ratio, assists, W/L ratio, even betrayals, suicides, quits! That’s how your individual performance should be judged, by how YOU play as an INDIVIDUAL. Besides, when you’re playing SLAYER, the objective is to kill them more than they kill you. So going 10-0 is a good thing! In Standard Slayer it’s ideal to have a killer KD ratio because that helps your team. If you can do that while protecting heavy weapons and weaker teammates, great! Do that too!
I understand also that there are OBJ maps, but even in those, if you have a good KD, you’re likely helping your teammates achieve the objectives more easily - i.e. taking out enemies in CTF so your flag carrier can get the flag from their base to yours. Makes sense, yes?
All this just to say Reach was the last game Bungie made, and they seemed to be improving on their ranking system each game since Combat Evolved. BPR worked great once you played a bunch of games with it. It used everything to judge you as a player, INCLUDING your W/L ratio, which I do believe is necessary to keep players from solo’ing everything all the time - mostly for OBJ matches.
I think we can all agree that NO system will be perfect, but I think most (key word most) of us feel this one could be vastly improved.

> I get the whole TEAM play is being emphasized, but reality is: Very few players use their mics to communicate. Since the games release, I’ve only come across a handful of players who have their mics on. That doesn’t mean I go rogue and fight my own battles, but playing in silence gets you so far. So if I get placed on a “team” that wants to play solo, why punish me? I think skill should play a role in your rank. Not just win or lose. I’ve had some really bad games where I almost contributed nothing, but got ranked up cause we won. Not fair for the other guys that did way better than me. Still going to keep playing though despite the quitters out there.
Are you having these same problems in FFA?
People are asking for H2 or H3’s ranking system, and essentially that’s what we have here: win and you rank up, lose and you rank down. Changing it so that you can still rank up even if you’re constantly losing but going +10 every game would promote too much of a lone wolf mentality and provide less incentive for team play. A lot of these playlists are team playlists, so of course you’re going to be expected to play as a team to win and progress in your ranking.
One place I do think that personal performance should have some impact is how much you go down in rank. Everyone on a losing team should go down in CSR, but if you’re carrying a team of less skilled players, maybe you shouldn’t be ranking down as much. The same goes for losing when someone quits and you’re out numbered.
With that being said, none of this matters until the placement system is tweaked a bit so that people aren’t in over their heads when they get put into Diamond/Onyx and cannot contribute to their teammates…

Tons of individual good players out there, but victory is all that matters. Individual skill will do you well in FFA, and even in Team Slayer if you are a clutch player, but ultimately all the best competetive games use win based systems for a reason. If we base rank off kills and everything else you listed, I can be a super high rank in CTF by just randomly slaying players and not playing the objective, that discourages teamwork and playing the objective. You could lose every game but if your KD is good you will rank up, does that sound right? The win is all that matters.
Trust me I understand where you’re coming from, I’ve had to get 30+ kills many times to win TS because of bad teams, blame the MATCHMAKING though! You shouldn’t be getting paired with 3 teammates getting completely outclassed to begin with! The ranking system is always gonna be inevitably flawed but this is the lesser of 2 evils and win based rank is a staple of competetive gaming.
After all in any real world competition, individuality means nothing if you lose. I think that should transcend to Halo too.

They need to revamp the system fast because so many players are in the wrong tier. If somone goes 2 and 17 they are not Diamond, and I shouldn’t suffer for their poor play!
Yes Iloved this game at first but have discovered many dissappointing aspects of it. Granted to game play is great the ranking system horribly unfair. My k/d is 4.2 in team arena and more than half of my games played are won yet I am ranked bronze 5
