That slows matchmaking times, and you’re also left in a strange situation when parties with players in different league’s search together.

My personal experience with ranking systems says that it should just be based off the fireteam’s average Kill:Death:Assist ratio. It could also factor in time spent playing the game since I’ve also noticed the stats for a player that has only played three games, particularly their Kill:Death ratio, tend to be a bad indicator for his skill, as They have not played enough for an accurate survey of his skill.

The other way around maybe. If you rank personal performance then you are asking for way more problems. I would just camp in corners get 10-12 kills with a 6+ KD and then what? Be rewarded for that style of play? No thanks.

Kill death ratio means nothing.

You can spend the whole game in a corner and get 10kills, zero deaths - not supporting your team at all. Meaning your teammates are effectively one player down (as your not pushing with them.) Even in FFA KD means nothing, all that matters is who wins. Nobody cares if you finished 2nd and went 3.0, you still lost.

They do. Quinn tweeted that recently. You lose a lot less points when that happens.

I think they should have both systems a halo 3 system rank 1 - 50 and this tier system. imagine an onyx level 20 player this guy would think he’s bad -Yoink- because he’s onyx. He played a ton of games win or loose in some way shape or form he ranks up. On the opposite end you have a level 50 onyx or champion player. This guy would be the pro or semi pro level. The only problem is those high level players it may take a while to find people of equal rank.

The other problem is that without demotions, you have Gold players who belong in Silver.

Better to match those Golds that should be Silver against Silver players, rather than just having them lose all season.

I do not like the ranking system for a few reasons.
1: It should not be 100% win based.
2: There should be an algorithm that consists of averages of placement on team. Let me explain more about that. If i go 20-2 and place 1st on my team and we also win, I should be rewarded for both, not just the win. I do not believe it should go off of K/D/A strictly. It should just go off placement 1-4 and wins. A mix of these two things would make a “better” ranking system.
3: Your rank should still be based (in the 10 games) on wins, don’t get me wrong. If you place 1st on your team but lose all 10 games, you should not be put into onyx.
4: WTF does the number rank even mean? I don’t understand why it’s a thing.

I couldnt agree more the current rank system is ridiculously broken there is no fair playstyle, every time im in Free for all match theres always the 1st place player ahead by 10-15 points and the below that have almost 0 chance to win

I don’t think a halo reach system would work because most people online think reach was a joke. On the same note everyone who played halo 3 respected the ranking system and it was indeed a good system

we already have that. It’s just 1500-2500 instead of 1-50. Except it doesn’t stop at 2500, you can keep going if you’re good enough.

Once you reach Onyx, you start at 1500 and have an infinite ceiling to push forward, much farther than you could with just a 50 at the end.

Asuming they’ve done this to have players come together as a team instead of individual efforts I face teams more often than randoms thrown onto a team idk I do agree to what your saying. But I guess that’s the point of the community so we can come together and play.

The new ranking system was confusing at first. As in I really didn’t understand what they wanted. Although I’d like to have the highest rank possible within the game I have just decided I don’t have the time like I used too to hammer my way up. Of course, if you are being punished because someone is having a bad game it is indeed frustrating but everyone has bad games now and then, they might just be very unlucky.

Halo reach ranking sucks, if your mad cus you derank when you lose then you need to get better to make up for the scrubs. Thats how halo is supposed to be played, you compete to win and show who’s best. If you feel you deserve something after a loss then go play cod where they reward losers.

If you haven’t tried the custom games I would recommend playing a FFA or Team Slayer custom, but turn off sprint, assassinations, ground pound, Spartan charge (yes, I know it’s tied to sprint ). Keep Clamber it has a great classic halo feel, but with clamber it feels like a new and honestly welcomed experience. if anyone wants to try it out in the near future add lil626. I think 343 might have struck gold with this Halo only time will tell

I like the current system, I would just ask that your personal performance be taken in to account, not just the fact that you won or lost.

I think it has far more to with wins and losses than kills and deaths . I’m stuck at Onyx 1500 in swat because I have about a 50/50 win/loss ratio. Kinda a dumb system, but it does a pretty good job matching players of equal skill in my experience.
