After the first couple games I just stopped caring and started playing like trash. I win and lose equally and yet I’m still an onyx?
Seems easy to get to semi-pro from here as well. It will match me up with people who have zero games or zero skill even.
There’s no excuse for why I went 9.0 k/d when I am only an above average player…
To all of this I say a few suggestions:
- Keep SR# ranks for the people that are low skill.
- Keep your current ranking system because it can be a good general “across the board” indicator of whether someone is decent or not.
- FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HAVE INDIVIDUAL 1-50 PLAYLIST RANKS.
Evolution shouldn’t be about switching out what’s not broken. If we’re testing ranks in MCC then use them in Halo 5 for an even higher degree of skill tracking. Having progression ranks for players who need the feeling of accomplishment regardless of playing skill and multiple skill based ranks for other types of skill ranges are necassary.
Playlist number ranks DO bring in more even matches. I like the general idea of the new ranking system but it needs to be more intensive and harder to achieve higher ranks.
SR is great for unlocks and people seem to enjoy so it has no reason to leave by any means. I just wish it was more like the Halo 3 exp ranks.

This ranking system is destined to be the best ranking system Halo has ever seen. You obviously havent realized that you are playing the beta of the beta. Trust me, if you are an above average player you wont be in semi pro when the game is released and everyone is competing for it.
This system is better than the 1-50 because it’s much more accurate and works better. The way it works is the better you do but still lose the less you go down and the better you do for your team and win makes you get more. If you’re a high rank and lose to lower ranks you lose more, if you win against higher you get more. Since it’s a low population atm it’s only normal that it’s easy to get to semi-pro. It’ll be harder (hopefully) to get to semi-pro on release or upcoming beta. Only thing I’d like to add is promo’s to get rank up between rank sections and make them require much more XP.
You guys are going to use this whole, “it’s only the beta” excuse all the time aren’t you?
And when the full game with a full population comes out and it’s still just as easy then what? Better to buff it now for the beta after the beta. Or at least voice concern instead of being silent about how easy it is to reach semi.

I was placed at Bronze 2 right away because my friend and I were taking turns and we haven’t played Halo in a while. I just worked my way to Silver 3.
If you have progression, its more fun. But I do see the fact that I have a higher K/D and Win/Loss ratio than a Gold rank member…

1-50 can show xp. They merely have to make it visible. Having playlist 1-50 and global rank like we have now would be sweet.
There are definitely some worrying things so far, I must say. Some kid with 50 kills and only 45% accuracy got ranked pro.

Dude, its not the fact that its a beta, its the fact that there simply isn’t enough people playing it.
Look at it this way. Lets say you have halo 2’s 1-50 skill based ranking system. If there was only 200 people playing Halo 2 do you think it would be easier to get to 50 then if there was 1000 people playing? Yes because there is less competition. Now if in the full beta(the one that everyone is able to play) it is still just as easy to get to and keep an onyx ranking then yes it will be a problem that 343 would need work on.
Keep in mind that it might be a few days before the a large amount of people are playing it and understand how to use all of it’s new mechanics. So don’t expect to loss Onyx ranking on the first day of the beta.
I still dont understand the score ranking according to team based game if team loses but K/dD is above average points are delt right

I always like the hidden skill rank for balanced matchmaking and exp ranks shown for laughs

Is Halo’s ranking going to be seasonal? Is it going to decay if you don’t play for a while?
Also it’s obvious the MM doesn’t match on skill. Feels like playing Halo4.
Hell I had way more even matches in the reach beta or even halo4 online. Even a dead halo 3 offers me competitive matches with less people online.
I find the ranking system to be completely flawed to be honest. I won a couple of games and then lost one game, with only three kills between us and the winning team and the past two games I’d won got completely taken away from my rank.
You get so many points that add onto your rank each time you win a game, for example: I got +10 points for winning one game and +7 for winning another, however when I lost one game it deducted -17 points.
I really want 343i to not screw up with this game but they need to fix the ranking system and make a few of these armour abilities optional in my opinion

The ranking system is perfect it isnt solely win or lost base. If you WIN and still do poorly you dont get as many points. If you LOSE and you still do decent you are not completely punished. True skill is rewarded, if you dont want to lose extra points then dont go 2-19 simple as that. Armor ability are hardly played as is. You play anyone with a brain and you will be killed the second you get out of your animation.
I liked the SR ranking they had for H4. However, I would like them to add playlist skill rank along with the SR rank.
no hes right its broken beyond repair I have a 6.8 KDA and have more wins yet a guy who has -6.1 KDA and has less wins SOMEHOW has a higher skill ranking then me? HOW DOES THAT MAKE SENSE
I completely agree that it isn’t a player skill ranking system. It measures your loses and wins, yet if i win and do really bad, my skill goes up, and if I lose and do good, my skill still goes down. It’s a team slayer mode, so it’s basing this off teams, not individual skill. Don’t even trust the skill ranks, just assume everyone is good and don’t give them any room to show you if they are bad or not. You can’t trust it
