c) There have been multiple hints within VGA trailers at the possibility of a trailer for Halo 4.

I wouldn’t say it’s official. Nothing is official until there is an official word about it (from a Microsoft/343i spokesperson through an official source (twitter not enough)). There are also plenty of chances to show a trailer. Who said it ever needs to be on an official event? These days you can pretty much publish a trailer on any day and thanks to Xbox dashboard, numerous internet sites, and internet in general, there is a pretty big chance that many people will see it.
Evidence definitely points towards a VGA trailer, but more “official” sources point towards “no”. I’m just saying that it’s possible there is a VGA trailer, but no one should get their hopes so high that if there isn’t a trailer they will come raging to the forums. Because in the end, 343i never confirmed anything. In reality it’s about 50/50 chance that there will/won’t be a VGA trailer.

I also agree.
Still not expecting anything for sure, but I’m leaning towards the optimistic side (without going so far to actually get my hopes up and then crushed next weekend ;))
It is unheard of to know so little about such a big game less than a year before its release. Not even a single hint of graphics, gameplay, etc.
What about bsangel’s so called surprises. Expect anything people. I believe their will be a trailer. I mean halo 4 is about a year from now and we know nothing about it almost nothing at all. They have to give us a trailer. If they don’t it would be letting down the fans and also the VGAs are a good place to advertise.

I’d say 80% chance of there being one. If there is, awesome. If not, oh well. If there is no trailer, I’d expect to see one soon in the coming months since we’re less than a year away from release.

Keeping something secret with only vague hints and clues is exactly how 343i seems to roll. It’d be a brilliant marketing strategy too. The sudden appearance of Halo 4 at the VGAs, after so much confusion and doubt, would get people’s hype levels maxed.
