New playlist: Custom Games (Idea)

What made Halo 3 a great game for me was the custom games that people made. In Halo: Reach and Halo 4 custom games are died, because no one really plays them. So what if 343I made a playlist with community made games. The EXP would be the same as if you where playing it in a private lobby. Also they should make the playlist “No Xbox Live partys allowed” like in Call of Duty’s search and destroy. List gametypes with maps that you would like to see in this playlist.

What we really need is something that’s never coming: A custom games browser.

It’ll never happen. But it really, really needs to.

We’re looking forward to bringing some community favorite custom games into the Action Sack playlist at some point, as was done in prior titles.

Head to “File Browser” in Halo 4, select “Game Types,” and then feel free to search via tag, author, or file name, or use the “Most Downloaded” and “Most Recommended” filters to find new custom game types.

I’m 99.999% sure you misinterpreted what he said.

People want an option to search for Custom Games lobbies. While having cool gametypes and maps is nice, they’re worthless unless you have people to play with.

A feature that allows you to choose which lobby you’d like to join(Similar to PC games where you choose the server you want to play one) would be optimal.

The alternative to that option would be a more matchmaking-esque system. Where the player hosting the lobby would select if he/she wanted their game to be counted into the system. Then the game would put players searching for Custom Game lobbies into that lobby.

This would be wonderful because those of us that host Custom Game lobbies wouldn’t need to spam everyone with game invites, in the hope that people will join. And people searching for lobbies, but unable to find one, could quickly be matched into one.

In case you don’t check back on this thread I will PM you this message, because this is something that has been desired since Halo 2 and shouldn’t be ignored further.

And that was essentially exactly what I was going to write. Good work.

A custom games browser. Sorry that I didn’t make myself clearer. What I meant is something much more akin to a Server Browser that you see on PC, which would be a list of custom game lobbies that people can join. You, as a custom games lobby leader, could then choose if you wanted to post your game on that list, or simply leave it private.

Essentially, you could turn your Custom Game lobby into a “Server” of sorts.

That is what I meant by a Custom Games Browser.
