New ordnance concept for h5.

I enjoy ordnance. It’s a nice retooling of the kill streak mechanic. They only thing I think would be an acceptable evolution of this system is to make multiple types of drops, customizable in your loadouts, but not the way some might think… This new concept would be a set of different types of ordnance drops.

(As a side note, perks should not return. They don’t impact the gameplay enough to be a useful edition, and making them to powerful upsets the balance of the game. This slot will replace the perk slot in your loadouts.)

The fist ordnance type will be the ordnance you know now as personal ordnance, though it won’t have some of the crazy powerful weapons it currently has now, only loadouts weapons and minor power weapons should be allowed, this will teach newer players that map exploration is important, and out of that comes map control skills. Requires a killing spree medal. No assists in some playlists.

The next type would be team ODs. This is we’re you earn a drop though kills only in all playlists that allow ordnance drops. In this type you get a map pulled up in front of you and you choose a set of three places to drop your ordnance, but you may want to save it and wait for your team to all be in one place. One of the key differences between this drop and personal drops is that you are not allowed to use the items you drop, only your teammates can, or enemy’s if your not careful. Another difference is that it contains only minor power weapons, power ups and no loadout weapons. Requires 12 non consecutive kills, which means you don’t have to stay alive in order for the kills to fill up the meter. This will teach new players to work with and support their team.

The final type is vehicle ODs, which drop low end vehicles at your base for your team, not you personally. It will include a warthog, mongoose and some other team based vehicle. The unique thing about this drop, is that it can only be used once and will only spawn at your base for your team. It will require 10 non consecutive kills but no assists. It will be the same 3 set of vehicle in every drop. This will teach newer players how important vehicles are in halo.

Another new feature to accompany these new additions would be a universal feature to team drops and personal drops. This means that when one person on red team gets, lets say, a br, over shield and a railgun. That means that the next person on blue team to get a drop will get the same choices in his drop, keeping the random factor 343 was going for but making it the same for everyone.

The next game should also have a specific loadout suppressor mechanic. This means that in certain playlists one section of your loadout may be omitted. If I have a team based OD in my loadouts but the playlist I’m in has no ordnance drops at all, that section of all my loadouts will be hidden. Also, the settings of each loadout slot should be able to be tweaked individually, like instead of my personal OD requiring kills, it would require only assists in other playlists.

These options in my opinion will add a new complexity to the game while it teaches players skills needed to be successful in halo. If you have anything to add please do as I welcome it.

I like it, as it prevents there from being a ludicrous amount of power weapons.

That being said I do like getting power weapons in ordinance so lets strike a compomise.

A fourth type of ordinance that is the same as now except you need 7 consecutive kills to call it in.

I want to add something. If there is one ORD i dare not want to see again in the next title…its the stupid Sticky Detonator. I rather have the Grenade Launcher return in Halo 5.

Or we could have both weapons, just make them very hard to use. Or just give the grenade launcher the sticky function.

Grenade…Sticky Function…if it were a Covie weapon, then it would definitely go perfectly. UNSC weapon, it really wouldn’t go. I like the way the grenade launcher was b/c i used to bounce the grenade on the walls to get the player hiding.
