New/Old Player Coming Back to Halo

Hi there, I’ve recently played Halo 5 online. I find it difficult to play when everyone already has power weapons and such. (REQ cards such as legendary weapons) Should I go play arena before trying this? I’m a fairly new player with little to no experience with the game, I also have no REQ unlocks.

Suggestions?

This is a great example of where having a social slayer/arena playlist would be a good thing.

My advice to you, play BTB or something unranked like Warzone to build up your skills. Arena is pretty tough.

Warzone and BTB is probably the best way to get better. There’s a lot of the weapons in there. I suggest using precision weapons like the pistol, BR, and DMR. If you want competitiveness, arena is the place to go.

OP, I’d say give Warzone another try if you liked it, but if you didn’t that’s fine too, Arena is great!

When I first started I only played Warzone and I didn’t have any problems with others having greats REQs because most of the time my teammates had good stuff as well. Plus, I could always find something nice on the ground from a dead enemy or teammate

Thanks for the feedback, I was so lost starting to play Halo 5 this late into it’s release. I appreciate the advice, thank you.

BTB is a good suggestion for him, but what did his post have to do with having a true social playlist? He didn’t like not having power weapons, so any Arena playlist would suit him just fine.

Im an older player coming back, stopped playing just as Halo3 hit the shelves and feel your pain. I highly recommend the social playlist, BTB and the occasional swat game thrown into the mix.

Arena should be a lot closer to the more traditional Halo multiplayer, start there.

Warzone is currently dominated by teams and farming for REQs and Achilles, it’s not friendly for solo players like at launch.

I started out just grinding warzone assault, cuz i didnt know my way around any map, and its pretty easy, defend or attack. and loadouts and reqs come by pretty fast. also in the beginning be good to be on the lookout for dropped weaps. all the loadout weaps (ar, magnum, br, smg and dmr) if you pick them up can be refilled with ammo at a req station.

have fun.

You should be paired with people who have roughly the same % of REQs unlocked as you do when you play Warzone. If Warzone isn’t your thing but you still was plenty of players, try fiesta or btb (like those above me have said, it is good advice.) if that still doesn’t go great try grifball and if not then say a big hello to competitive arena.

As many people here say - play Arena to get some REQs. Its okay to play some Warzone to get a general feel for it and the maps.

You should probably play Warzone Assault as opposed to regular Warzone until you build up your REQ unlocks. You have a better chance to play without getting bombarded by the other’s teams more powerful REQs, especially if you’re on the attacking team.

His post didn’t have anything to do with having a social playlist. Just me being a jerk and spreading my opinions on everyone! muahaha.
No, but seriously. I just thought it was relevant because it’s hard for people to get a feel for the gameplay/maps of arena outside of the ranked playlists. I disagree with you that arena would be just fine to start out in, those maps are small and tight and everyone already knows how to control the map to their advantage. He would be lost, at least I know I would be. Better to get your shot down as well as the mechanics of player movement before going into arena.

No problem!

If you’ve played old Halo games and enjoyed slayer and such, play arena. If you like more social games, play the social playlists in arena and eventually Warzone. But Warzone does have a learning curve of its own to earn so don’t get discouraged.

Gotcha, I was just curious

I guess so, but the same goes for all maps. I guess the fact that they’re small makes knowledge of the maps more important.

But lets be honest, all of the arena maps are just like 2 maps anyways  Ayeoooooo

Fiesta is still playable right? go have fun with some power weapons!

What this guy said. Arena will butcher you until you know what you’re doing.

Learn how to use the weapons. The BR is no longer the “go to” weapon. All weapons are just as powerful as the next. ONLY if you know how to use them.

You should try playing Big Team Battle. Since it has two teams of 8, it’ll be less likely that an enemy will target you specifically so can can concentrate on learning the game’s mechanics more.
