New name for "General Discussions"

I remember on B net days general discussion was called “The Flood” not sure if it still is. I feel like “The Domain” or “Organon” would be the most fun to call general discussion! What would guys want to change boring old general discussion to?

I don’t really think this forum allows the same topics like The Flood did. Although, it would be nice if there was a forum like that on this site.

To answer your question: The Domain.

The Domain sounds super rad but i’m content with what it’s called now. For new players, the name “General Discussion” makes more sense than “The Domain” or “Organon”

The Flood was a vastly different place than this, pretty much anything went on. Definitely won’t be anything that that added on Waypoint, a single off-topic thread can be bad enough to keep tabs on sometimes. Here General Discussion I think is fine, don’t really see the need to change it.

I think General Discussion is fine for now. General Discussion is a lot more straight forward, and it won’t confuse new members nearly as much. Its like the old saying “If its not broken don’t fix it”.

As stckrboy said, B.net’s Off-Topic subforum (aka The Flood) is much different from GD here on Waypoint. It is an essentially unregulated, unmonitored forum that Bungie specifically designed (and it even says so) for random discussion.
General Discussion on Waypoint, however, is described specifically as a place for general “Halo and Xbox” topics. GD here is more akin to what B.net’s “Destiny” section is for: talk about anything pertaining to the game.
I don’t think a name change is necessary or even worth it. You get exactly what you see: general discussion.

I wouldn’t mind an area in Waypoint specifically for discussing other, non-Halo games (even if only other Xbox games). The Break Room threads are like spam magnets because there isn’t a limit on how off-topic people can get, aside from the normal dos-and-don’ts of the forum. An “Other Games” subforum or thread would be nice for allowing people to unwind by specifically talking about other games.

Hmmmm I see what you guys mean, we should deff have a waypoint version of the flood then I remember how much fun that was back in the day some crazy stuff happened hahha

No, we really shouldn’t have a version of the flood. That was our point.

You read it incorrectly.

I would like some sort of forum tab that would be unregulated like the flood was, but it would also not increase your forum rank so that people wouldn’t just spam it. Like the saprtan company threads that you can share with the people in your spartan company, vastly larger and available for everyone to speak in.

What could possibly go wrong???

maybe we could use something like the flood again where subject is pretty much free as long as its not spamming or some other cheap stuff. Perhaps it could be even somekind of forum where the swearing from the direct Halo quotes couldnt get censored or yoinked if you prefer.

Aren’t one word responses considered “spam” on waypoint? Shouldn’t monitors be held to the same (if not higher) standards as everyone else?

(dude do not provoke monitors, they are great at what they do and are awesome people always willing to help, but they have powers we can only imagine, I can only hope for your safety.)

Do you really want to go down that road?

People keep asking the same thing over and over. The answer’s not going to change because someone asks it differently. Clearly people aren’t understanding when we’re exceptionally verbose in explaining why we are disinclined to consider the repetitive requests. So I opted for, “short and sweet” this time.

Any further discussion on my choice of response will be met with some red text though so consider yourselves all warned.

Just like to see the integrity of the forums at it’s highest level. Cheers

And non constructive post :joy:
Yeah it may be more work on the mods but it would being more people to the halo forums when they are done talking about halo.
