Why couldn’t 343 retain the Halo-esque music?
The music sounds completely different now and it just doesn’t strike me as much.
The music still sounds very Halo-esque to me. Neil Davidge pretty much confirmed there would be hints of the original soundtrack in the new score, particularly in the first mission (not everything in the game is on the soundtrack, mind you). Either way, I think we’ll all be pleasantly surprised once we hear the music in-context.
I’m assuming some of Halo 3’s soundtrack will sneak its way in… Well I hope. Or it’s a big mistake.
I don’t hear any major themes in the new music, but I do recognize a lot of places where Davidge added some connecting melodies from the original soundtrack.
More like a nod to the old than anything.
That said, I do like most of the new music. Some of it is a bit weird, but I can get used to it.
