New multiplayer mode idea

if you class “caveman logic” as an insult then I apoligize for hurting your feelings

Oh you don’t need to apologize, it’s obvious you either have some superiority complex or your emotions are getting the better of you, it happens.

i’m willing to disscuss. it seems you got emotional and quit the discussion. Now youve resorted to petty back and forths

We’ve, it takes 2 to tango, as much as discussing it would be fun, it would probably be fruitless considering we can’t find any common ground.

Edit, pretty sure I mentioned this in the comment where I quit…

its clear you never fullly understood my idea and youve been basing all your criticisms on “class system bad, remove it” My idea plays strikingly similar to what infinite offers now. And youve constantly been comparing my idea to reach and 4 because you hear the word “class”

Halo (historicaly, principle wise) is an Arena Shooter. Its meant to have even starts, to encourage players to move around map.

Class based combat was attempted with Reach/4 but didn’t work out too well, this is not to say that class based mode couldn’t work but frankly I think it just waters down the franchise. Why bother playing Halo if it plays just like every other shooter?

Infinite already could support this type of game, like one team spawns with grapples other spawns with repulsor for example (even though I’m sure its probably not possible currently) but I just think that Halo going that direction is proven to not work and they should focus on building modes around what it is fundamentally.

In your defense OP, there is one mode that I do think this would work for conceptually. That would be an Invasion 2.0 mode. I think that the idea of different classes and an asymmetrical type of gameplay loop makes sense if its Spartans vs Elites vs Brutes and so on. Adding to this they could do a weird Warzone mode set up like that, would be one of a kind. It would take a lot of time and effort to be awesome though, so that’s a long ways off.

Because what else is there to compare it to? That’s what a class is, a pre-determined loadout, something Halo has already done. There’s no reason to make them into “ultimate’s” and then get ammo for what is glorified equipment because that’s jumping through hoops for the sake of jumping through hoops. Even for a game mode, I can’t see it being all exciting or even worth the investment just so that everyone can have whatever piece of equipment they want.

If you had just left the idea at get X kills, get X boost, that would be a superb FFA game mode.

But you’re here talking about smoke grenades being tied to a class instead of just adding in smoke grenades, perks such as faster reloads, and then topping it off with kill streaks essentially. (EDIT: Misread, these would all be killstreaks essentially, but I still don’t think classes would be needed for that, nor does it need ultimates.)

Retracting this segment, I have a clearer idea of what you mean, I could see the argument to be made.

that was an after thought. the main idea was the ultimates. I know it doesnt sound revolutionary to halo on paper but think about all the cool abilitiies in valorant. its essentiallly a bunch of unique equipment going off in the map affecting the flow creating unique gameplay moments and thats what having lots of different types of equipment creates. i’m not saying the equipment should all activate at once. I’m saying it would be constantly new and exciting when just a few happen at a time. At the moment infinite doesnt really have any cool neutral equipment yet though. halo’s equipment needs to borrow ideas from valorants abilities that affect map flow for everyone.

forget about the kill boosts and it plays similar. youre still fighting for equipment except its ammo for your chosen equipment. only difference now is, you only get to use 1 personal equipment. But if everyone had different equipment types and a lot of them were neutral, you could also experiance them and even use them as you find them activated on the battlefield. They could even create unique combinations that create gameplay that the developers would never of dreamed of.
