Back in summer of 2018 I created a post regarding what I thought would be a good mode concept for Halo Infinite. I just wanted to touch up on that idea. Name of mode: Combat Evolved, or Invasion Evolved Map: The Ark (Installation 00) Timeline: 2552 Human-Covenant War Mode Type: PvP, 25v25, or 40v40 (high as possible) Match Duration: 1 hour (can quit at any point and rewards will be sent the next day based on how you helped your faction)
Before starting up a match the player will be able to pick which faction they will fight for (UNSC or Covenant). Upon spawning in you will see a map similar to a battlefield conquest map. Players will be able to spawn in on any location controlled by their faction. Across the Ark you will find points of interest that can benefit your faction. Vehicle depots will allow your team to spawn more vehicles and outposts can serve as a spawn point for you to get in on the action quicker. The objective is for your faction to control the most area by the end of the hour.
Classes:
UNSC
Marine- Unlocked at UNSC rank 1 Marine:
SMG marine rank 1 - Magnum marine rank 3 - assault rifle marine rank 7 - battle rifle marine rank 12 - New class upgrade marine max rank 15Pilot or Vehicle Specialist:
Level ups similiar to marine class - Access to air vehicles (pilot) - Access to ground vehicles (vehicle specialist)ODST: Unlocked after previous class reaches level 15
More HP - Better weapons(snipers, shotguns, grenade launchers)Spartan:
Can hijack vehicles - Extremely tough - Access to entire UNSC arsenal - Unlock specific Spartans at Spartan max rank (Emile, John, Johnson, etc)Covenant would have a similiar ranking structure going from grunts, jackals + skirmishes, brutes, elites, hunters. Some classes would even go more in depth to allow you to become a chieftain or an arbiter which would prove an even match up against a Spartan.
Sounds like Planetside 2, but with less players on the field. There also only UNSC and no Covenant? Hard pass. Lastly, 24 hour long matches sounds terrible, people don’t have time for that, people hardly have time for one hour matches xP
It’s definitely and interesting concept, the match duration should be significantly shorter though. More along the lines of a warzone match. Even in warzone, things can get one-sided really quick, so there needs to be an end to the match after a certain tip in the balance. That being said, more players in the match and bigger maps with more variety, definitely a plus. Also, being able to play as all the different races of covenant and play as marines too, that sounds interesting. It would definitely add a new challenge to the game. Spartans would be kind of like heroic units. That being said, I feel like your class level should be determinate on your ranking on your team. The top player gets to spawn as a heroic unit, and can remain as such until death, then whoever is the top player gets that choice again. That way it’s a skill based reward. For 40 v 40, it would play as follows. I do like the come and go as you please aspect though.
Rank
Heroic Unit (All the named spartans or a leader in a mini mantis such as Johnson, either of the Keyes etc.) [Zealot, Field Marshal, Arbiter, Brute Chieftain, what’s his face from Halo Wars 2]
2-5. (4 Players) Spartans [Elites/Hunters]
6-15. (10 Players) ODSTs [Brutes/Jackals]
16-25. (10 Players) Specialists/Pilots [Heroic Grunts/Elite Minors]
26-40. (15 Players) Marines [Grunts/Buggers]
I feel like then it also encourages more teamwork amongst lower ranked players, which will increase their effectiveness, while making the top ranked players lone wolf targets. This helps reduce the run n’ gun-ness from warzone.
Just to clarify on all the comments talking about how long a match is. It would kind of be like a daily event so it would last all day. I did change the match duration to 1 hour though. However, I do like TWOGWatchmans idea on the match type and heroic troops and such.
Why does Halo have to keep getting bigger and bigger? We already have Warzone and I don’t want to see 343 spend tons of time on pointless other playable infantry mechanics and animations when we still don’t even have the Spartan mechanics set in stone.
