I have an idea for a new map voting system in Halo 5 that is unlike others from previous halo titles. The problem with not having a voting system is you may have to play maps you absolutely despise/already played a lot of without any say in the matter. The problem with the voting system in other halo titles was that only a handful of maps would be played, creating a lack of variety. The voting system I propose should minagate both these issues. I propose a voting system in which only one map is displayed to vote on at a time. The players would have the option of either voting yes or no on the map; if the number of yeses execedes the number of nos, then the map will be played and vice versa. A yes vote can be seen as someone being okay to play the map; A no vote can be seen as someone not wanting to play the map and not voting can be seen as indifference (or inactivity). If the popular vote is no, then a new map will be displayed. This can only happen 2 times from the original map though so players can’t just continually vote no until the map they want to play appears. With this system, players can avoid maps that are widely undesired and 343 can see these statistics and try to make changes to the map to make it more playable. This system will overall help with community feedback on maps to 343. Also, because there are only a maximum of three maps in any given voting session, more maps will be played (as compared to the previous voting system) because players won’t always have the option to choose the most popular map and can settle for a less popular, but still playable map. In summary, this system is a sort of hybrid between the current and old systems that helps players avoid terrible maps while still maintaining some variety (because players won’t always have the option of playing the most popular map). I hope 343 will take this system into consideration. Thank you for your time.
Oh also if all the maps in the voting session have a popular vote of no, then one more vote will be cast between the three of those maps and whichever has the most votes will be played

You make some great points.

Broke that into paragraphs for you. Just remember to put them down in paragraphs if you make a long detail response.
So basically a voting system similar to Halo Reach? Well overall I prefer the veto system. I prefer the veto system so people cannot basically vote for the same map over and over and over again. Halo Reach hardly showed any variety when it comes to maps in BTB thanks to the people voting the same map time after time. So yeah I prefer a veto system where if the map gets too unpopular, the system gives you another map and that’s final you have to deal with it no complaining.
I prefer to keep map/gametype rotation personally. Voting and vetoing hand always been bad for variety, and I don’t believe there’s a way around that.

I agree with this. Voting is awful, but vetoing means a smaller number of maps don’t get played. I like the variety this game offers.

Agreed. This is one of the many things done right in H5.

This
Op I see what your saying. I had an idea that basically had 3 maps to choose from and the one you voted for you followed or played once enough players were found. Those 3 maps would change after every game. So you would have a fresh set of maps every game. And those would continuously rotate. I think the issue we have with my idea and your idea is the amount of time it would take to actually play the game. 343i has made it very clear there first priority is to get you into a game the quickest way possible. Any voting system takes time away from actually gaming. Plus I think in the current state H5 is in the current system should be left alone…
Zippy.

Agreed… It’s fine the way it is IMO. I get more of a variety now than in previous voting or vetoing. No matter what if there is some sort or vote/veto it will turn into the same maps always being played.
I like the idea. Hopefully it will make it into Halo 6. I think it’s too late to be put into Halo 5.

What you describe is almost exactly how it worked in Halo 3.
Hey, apparently this hasn’t been said in all this time, so I’ll be the first to let you know. You’re describing almost the exact voting system Halo 3 originally used on the 360 back in 2007. The only difference was it displayed two maps to choose from, and had a veto button to veto both at once, and you could only veto twice like you said. Bungie did it before, don’t know why 343 stopped, especially since they did it in Halo 4. They had a decent voting system in Halo 4 and didn’t use it in MCC or 5.

Then you conveniently missed the post directly above yours from three years ago.
Also, don’t revive old topics.
