New map: The Pit - coming November

I doubt that sort of command would be implemented.

you can program them to stay on specific paths and not go to the man cannon

My question is how do you know this?

They’re just bots with a pre-programmed “mind” and are set to know what an object is. Nothing more?

I have some connections in 343 :smirk:…but for starters check the forge fundamentals

Well it’s pretty obvious. Bots are, ultimately, dumb script run brains that have if/then triggers, mostly.

They will walk down a set pre-planned path. You want the to avoid mancannons? Then you don’t let them walk there. You take off the navmeshing of that area, and they will never use it again. It’s genuinely that simple.

First @HozerDude and now @VINNIEtheWOLF75…Phew @KCD0DGER What have we gotten ourselves into!!!
Keep on rocking KC

I know that. But how. If it in case is like that then there needs to be specific commands for the bots. And volumes that can be set to tell a bot to know where and where not to go.

One could argue, They acknowledge a kill zone. Instant death or timer regardless. So they’ll avoid it. Issue is to them no matter how short the player sets the zone to only foot height for example, they still won’t even think of trying to jump it. Because it’s a programmed wall to prevent their crossing. They don’t know better.

Then There’s the idea of “bot control volumes” the sheer amount of crap that’s gonna have to go into that will not be mentally comprehensible. Like telling them where, when to jump. Issue is it’ll defy their objective program and which can’t be overridden mess them up.

How they’re programmed is to “see” objects and know if they can climb it or not. So if there’s a killzone there they won’t even dare to go to it. So they’ll be stuck there. And the concept of a jump command is pretty far fetched in terms of functionality. It can lead to a lot of other underlying issues that a forger cannot fix. Not to me too. 343is incompetent development. I highly doubt they’d even try to implement such a thing. In script or as a set volume you can place.

Despite tone in no way am I trying to be combative or anything of the sort. It’s just that an idea like that is a bit far fetched even in terms for 343 to implement such a thing. I bet if they even fathomed it they’d get rid of it a week later saying the engine can’t work with it.

Lmao my tech nerd kinda broke out but it just seems a bit too much to actually function properly. Especially without messing up the ai programming.

I do what I can.

You’re thinking too hard about it.

Go watch this.

It’s very clear.

with the already set perimeters that 343 had set in the bots to make them useable ingame. It would be a hindrance to their overall performance and set behaviors. Let alone their functionality.

Link doesn’t work, forums doesn’t actually make the url useful.

My eyesight is garbage so I’ll probably miss type something in the url as well.

No offense but calling yourself a tech nerd but not removing the spaces? Come on, tech up. :stuck_out_tongue:

Lmao The concept of ai in-game is cool. Dabbled into it myself. But 343 has set parameters to allow them to function and recognize things. A jump command using a volume would make them overthink and have a in-game mental breakdown.

Now. Like I said using a kill volume which they can recognize. Really only time will tell if they do Recognize they can jump over it or not.

I’m using an iPhone so keypad sucks. Pc is broken as well. CPU and a couple other parts took a dump in unison and the pc gave up on life. stuff nowadays is extremely expensive and I can’t buy that atm.

If you actually think that then quite frankly I don’t think you’re familiar enough with how Infinite’s bots work.

Go watch the video already.

The link doesn’t work. Gimi the name of the vid and I can look it up.

Oh
My
Gods

Remove the spaces in the link self proclaimed tech nerd, lmao.

“Halo Infinite | Forge Fundamentals – Scripting & Bots”

Literally remove the spaces in the link!! There are two!

I’ve messed with them before to figure out how they worked and what they respond to and acknowledge.

Key points of interest, movement targeting, etc.

Most notable is how dumb they can be… literally just running straight off the map for no apparent reason.

Very cool (just skipped to the specific part where they talk about the bots how to manipulate them. If and when these functions come to fruition I’m gonna make them t-bag every kill they get.

K I have a car to fix I’m out.
