I don’t know how far in development 343 is on multiplayer maps, but I have a pretty cool idea. The map is set aboard a space station orbiting planet so-and-so. The station’s AI has gone rampant and is causing several systems to go haywire. At random times on different locations on the map, the AI will cause one of several malfunctions: disable gravity, activate hostile turrets, close access to certain rooms and corridors for a brief time, turn off the lights so that you just barely see your opponents outline, EMP that slowly lowers shields, or whatever else you can think of. The map would be about medium size and optimized for 8-10 (maybe 12) players. I think this would be especially fun for objective gametypes. Anyways, leave your feedback.
Sounds like crazy fun.
Sweeeeeetttttt.
I love dynamic maps; sounds like a great idea!
i feel that combating a Rampant AI could potentially be a good Gametype, where the objective is to shut the AI down/remove its presence from the system.
but if a gametype is a little over-the-top, a specified map would be very cool, but there should be some way to control what it does in custom games, so that is isn’t annoying to play with
This is an awesome idea.
Perhaps make it a forgeable thing.
Set up things like trait zones. Customize size and effect (gravity, emp, etc), and time. Set it for certain times, or randomized.
Imagine building forge maps or tiered maps like that.
Sounds fun!
Make it happen, 343i!
Seems that everyone is onboard
It should be interesting if we will have maps that have a lot more interactive environments due to Next Gen Console.
This sounds like a great idea.
Halo 2 and Halo 3 had many maps that had interactive environments, but are not present in REACH or Halo 4.
And were a very cool feature.
The turning windmill in Zanzibar/Last Resort is a perfect example.
haha. “Soandso” has been killed by The Guardians. A map that fights you, why’ll you fight others…sounds like fun.
Now here’s a crazy thought, expanding on this idea…
Add in a progressive FFA/objective gametype, where one player acts as the “AI”, and has a top-down view of the map. They can activate various traps in each room, but all traps require a “reset” time. The “AI” would have to hold off the “Data purge team” in an act of self-preservation.
Would play as a 3 stage game, much like invasion.
Offensive team would only have a short amount of time to move in and purge the AI, delving deeper into the “Data core” in each phase.
Could be played on a simulated “digital” map/environment (like the Matrix), outside the War Games facility.
Thoughts?

That’s an interesting idea… I’ll see what I can do.
On another note, that sounds like an interesting map OP. Not sure about the randomized events… but other than that it sounds great!
sounds brilliant, i miss all the little things although this is a big thing but like in halo 3 with the mines on sandtrap, turrets on boundless, even the sentinels on some of the maps it added more stuff to it!! and this sounds like its takin it back to that!!
My outside map idea:
i think it would be cool if on outside maps say the base map is sunny and outside there building is sensor and when it rains it automatically changes the map from sun to rain, would change it every time i think
what do you all think? it would mean the being 2 maps if you like but i think itwould be cool, be totaly random everytime and make it just generally more unique and fun every time
and even going that bit further being able to do it so if it snows then on the map theres snow on the ground and its snowing!!
Maybe, it would be fun, but with-out the random element please.
The linked video shows a old idea for the map Commended of the Defiant Map Pack, and I think it is very relevant to this discussion.
Areas where you could die just by being there tend to be avoided by players, leading to stale map movement.

i wish they kept that map dark, found it way too liht and boring and also for infection it woulda been so creepy and brilliant
and anyway back to the point, i agree but i like the idea of turrets, aslong as it only takes a couple of shot to kill or a grenade, weaker then the dominion ones
but i love the idea of the doors randomly closing and locking sections off etc
Yes yes yes and yes
I would love to orbit the planet so-and-so
Yes, I can see a lot of good times for this.
343 make this happen

Because of the randomness of these events, the hazards would be pretty hard to avoid. Especially if your objective is currently in a hazard zone.
But for your “random element” concern there could be a variant without the hazards (except maybe the occasional zero-gee; who doesn’t love that?).
