I think what they’re saying is the “airburst” ones used by the Answer, rather than the semi-armor piercing high explosive ones utilized now.

Just as the answer is alot better than the basic saw.
Maybe 5 shots headshot not required, 4 if you do headshot?
I stick to the idea of extra ammo, but maybe just reserve ammo.
So if it’s a 5 shot kill (body) than it has 10 round clip, but 32 reserve.
So it’s still great but you can get 2 kills per clip if you don’t miss.
More if splash damage is used perfectly.

I’m sure the Halo CE Pistol has explosive rounds, the lore stating that most shielding on Sangheili were so strong, that normal bullets didn’t work, so they switched to explosive like rounds until they could develop something better, like the Spartan Laser and Railgun to take care of shielded enemies, even MAC rounds have to travel at a ridiculous speed just to puncture the shielding of a ship and then hit the ship itself, it got that bad during the Human-Covenant War.
