New light bloom in halo reach needs to be an optional setting

Halo Reach on Xbox 360 always had two major issues with the visuals, motion blur and light bloom. In MCC, those two visual problems were removed which made me love Halo Reach even more. But now light bloom was added back after the Aug. 31 update and it’s ruining the MCC experience (especially in multiplayer). The light bloom is too strong and it hurts my eyes to look at. Everything is out of focus now as every light source/reflection smears textures together and reduces the clarity of each pixel. It seriously looks like my glasses are dirty or that my TV is smeared with greasy smudges. I included some screenshots.

Please, you need to reduce light bloom by 50-75% or make it an optional setting for players. It’s eye straining because they’re trying to get the game to focus but can’t do it; the ight bloom makes it impossible. Halo Reach MCC is unplayable for me now. I am a strong believer to preserve the original Halo Reach visuals as much as possible, but light bloom was a disadvantage of the older 360 hardware and was used to hide low quality performance on 360. I know hundreds of thousands of gamers on Reddit and YouTube feel the same way and would like Halo Reach light bloom to be a toggle only for those who want it.

The new light bloom on certain maps make it feel like you’re playing while staring into stadium lights.

Yeah I was forging on Tempest wondering if some stuff was always so hard to see…
I was glad when motion blur was removed, but I never knew bloom had been toned down so heavily from the original.

Yep, it needs a toggle at the very least. Its horrible and poorly implemented. So much so that some Online maps do not have bloom, others do… I have submited a ticket asking them to give us the option, they said to post it here on this forum : p

I agree 100%, to be honest the new blur gives me kind of a headache

Why was this change not listed in the update notes?

PLEASE 343I, let us have a Light Bloom toggle for Halo Reach, as well as other Halo games. The Lighting Bloom is way too high to play normally :cold_sweat:

Did 343i bother to QA test or at least just play for five minutes before releasing the update? Genuinely asking.

To be fair, other players have noted that Halo Reach in MCC at launched looked way different compared to the original release on the 360. Some people enjoyed the more muted color palate, others didn’t.

But, yes, I agree there should be some kind of toggle in the graphics settings for improved flexibility.

I personally like the bloom being added back to reach, but it should become a toggle for some of the people that don’t like it

if you have mcc on pc as well as on xbox, i have one word for you.

mods.

sounds like you haven’t seen how these mods work, there is no mods to turn off the bloom, and even if there was, you wouldn’t be able to play on matchmaking or custom games browser

Halo Reach is the only MCC game I play and I literally stopped because of this update. Please either add a toggle or revert it for multiplayer, I beg you 343
