New leader/Patch information

It’s currently the 3rd Wednesday of May. I know 343i have said they are no longer sticking to the originally set schedule for DLC release. This being said it would be nice to have some information about when they hope the DLC will be available.

Id like to know what the DLC is. I suspect we will know in tomorrows community update. As for it being released it will be this month but because people kicked off over Colony 343 won’t tell us when they are going to release it they’ll just release it.

The fact that we don’t know the DLC leader is our fault, in the end. They told us about Colony and then we hounded 343 when they were late. So needless to say, they want to avoid that fate by just staying silent until the DLC is about to drop.

This. If people could behave respectfully then we probably would have known by now what the DLC will include at least.

As others have said, it’s the community’s fault that we know nothing. I know most here on this thread right now weren’t any of those complaining about Colony’s delay, but you’ve gotta understand 343 is just trying to prevent another outrage.

The problem is that they announced their own release schedule, which they failed to keep twice. People didn’t “hound” 343, they complained about the product they paid for not releasing according to the schedule they were given on more than one occasion.

In the end, the developer and publisher had no one to blame but themselves for announcing a schedule and failing to keep to it. Just like it’s no one’s fault but their own for releasing a bugged product at launch and having some of those bugs being present 3 months after launch.

Edit: I actually think it’s better they ditch the schedule anyways.

There were errors on both sides with regards to DLC announcement, however; I do think 343 have done a wonderful job of patching the game and listening to the community. I don’t know what other games people are playing that got everything right at launch and patches their game perfectly.

Agree with this. If any other company that deals with the public had set a deadline and failed to meet it the response would have been the same.
343 were over ambitious and have admitted to their mistake regarding this.

Yes but now we get a lot less communication. If the community had kept their heads we would be in better communication with 343. They shouldn’t have announced a deadline, but the community can’t over react like that and expect 343 to give us any early information in the future.
I actually think 343 handled the missed deadline very well. They apologized , told us why, and communicated the whole time. They also did not release a broken patch.

I have been gaming for 20 years and 343 is one of the better companies that I have dealt with in regards to keeping up and patching their game. Jesus did anyone play The Division when it first came out? Overwatch messed up bad in the first season too.

Ske7ch could at least give us a small announcement since this WOULD have been the OG release date

343 tried to do their customers a favor by releasing POTENTIAL release dates as something to look forward to. They never outright gave an exact or promised release date on any DLC’s. Below is the original season pass description where it does not list any specific dates for this reason.

*Here is the season pass description per the Microsoft website:DescriptionGrow your war chest with the Halo Wars 2 Season Pass. The Season Pass delivers regular updates that span more than six months, including: New Leaders with abilities that change the course of multiplayer matches, new Units that add to your multiplayer arsenal, new Blitz cards to collect and take into battle, and new campaign missions that expand the Halo Wars 2 story.*Because of the backlash, complaining, and whining, it appears they learned their lesson and have decided to not release any information in hopes to avoid this problem going forward.

Therefore 343 was wrong for assuming that their customers were all reasonable, understanding, and appreciative of (what I view as) a courtesy they were attempting to extend to us by providing a date to look forward to.

I, for one, would like if we could get some details about the next DLC, but understand why they are withholding it. We as a gaming community are to blame 100% for this (as much as I hate to be lumped in with some people, unfortunately I am a part of the overall community).

The below post/link explains why we are not getting updates.

https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/forums/38bd6e2ebbb14e5b9b359bb029588800/topics/colony-release-update-update-4-24/ac25b79a-74cb-401b-aa15-63fca12f32d6/posts?page=26#post503

“Target dates” are not promised or guaranteed dates.

I don’t think I need to explain anymore why it’s not 343’s fault for this. If you don’t get it, then you probably never will.

Should see patch notes tomorrow with possible release next week:

> We are planning to release it as soon as possible once it’s completed cert. There are multiple factors that impact release specifically including alignment with various storefronts, data centers, internal and external release managers, time/day of the week, etc… @ske7ch343

> We’ve messaged this a few times but also specifically as part of the Colony release. To avoid false expectations and frustrations we’ve officially backed away from the initial 3rd Wednesday ‘target.’ The next DLC leader is in the process of certification right now and as soon as it clears (assuming no issues arise) then we are clear to lock on release and officially share further details. So far this is tracking for release next week. I plan to post the new patch notes tomorrow. @ske7ch343

I’m fine with them taking more time if it’s needed. The release schedule isn’t terribly important to me. I’m just wondering why they’re holding back on telling us WHAT leader we are getting. I don’t think us knowing that would slow anything down on their end. I’d like to have something to look forward to.

They did say that it’s a UNSC leader.

But why stop there? Giving us a character name (be it new or existing) gives us something to talk about. I’d rather speculate than just wait.

I think it’s an abundance of caution so as not to get caught by something unexpected, such as the skitterer issue.

If something profoundly catastrophic arises during testing, they might have to go back to the drawing board or switch releases with something else coming down the pipe.

Also, they want to hype close to release for greater effect.

Plus, respect for a company is EARNED, not given out blindly. 343, so far, has not really done much to earn respect. Nor have they shown that they really respect their customers, either. Respect is a two-way street.

And if they can’t take the heat from frustrated fans, then maybe they aren’t cut out for this industry, because you need a thick skin for it. Fans were/are frustrated because they LIKE the game, and want to see it succeed.
