NEW IDEA

normally im no fan of changes because of reach(pls no aas or reach things in h4) but i would really love changes like flying the pelican or the phantom,or maybe the scarab(not flying of course) or a huge ship like the forward unto dawn for example

what about you?

in the campaign of course not in multiplayer

Frigates would be impossible. The only way they would work is. If Halo has a space combat mode like in Star Wars Battlefront II.

But vehicles like the Pelicans, and Phantoms we could have for the Campaign, Custom games, and for Forge. But do to the player-count, and map size. They wont work right for Matchmaking.

A word of advice. If check the first few pages to see if there is a thread with the same topic as the one you want to post. If there is not, use the search feature. If you still don’t find anything, then go ahead and make your thread. There is already a thread right on the first page of the Halo 4 forums with the exact same subject as this. http://halo.xbox.com/Forums/yaf_postst56762_Will-we-be-able-to-use-pelicans-possibly.aspx

As much as it is a rip-off, I see space combat working as a new mode for Halo. I mean they can make an entire new mode for it. Basically, same scenario as Long Night of Solace, but just multiple backdrops, settings and objectives per mission. The enemies would be AI, and the set up would work like Firefight.

The Long Night of Solace space combat was based off of Battlefront IIs space combat. So like you said they could make a game mode foe it.

No problem. Just something to consider in the future.

On the topic of you post. Frigates don’t really seem worthwhile to me though if you can prove me wrong then I’ll be all for it. Pelicans could be done but they have to be done right. If they implement and flesh out space combat then they’ll be great for that. If they have some sort of wide open combat gameplay then they could fit there. If they base a mission around it and tailor it accordingly then it could fit. In the kind of gameplay we’ve seen in most parts in the series, there are better vehicles to be used.

You think that AA’s were a bad idea but you think flying a pelican or phantom is a good idea? How would a pelican even work in gameplay? It makes no sense.

I don’t know about you, but I had this crazy little idea a couple days ago. I thought that it would be cool if 343i made a game where we are playing space battles (and we are commanding on a frigate). You can do all kinds of maneuvers and upgrade your frigate. And you can choose what you’re going to fight and stuff. This would be just like a little side project. But I don’t know if the community would like this.

But to answer your question, Pelican and Phantom, yes, in campaign. Scarab?? I don’t see what’s so fun about driving a scarab, I think it’s a bit exaggerating. Isn’t it?

Instead of the Scarab, I think the Locust would be better. Small enough to not be a problem, different enough to add more variety to gameplay and similar enough to the Scarab to fulfil what people want to do.

> reach things in h4

Not all ‘Reach’ things are bad, there are some, but not all of them was bad. If one part in your vehicle is bad, that doesn’t mean your entire vehicle is bad.

> pelican or the phantom

I kind of would enjoy flying a pelican, but I wouldn’t want it to be a mission thing, where you HAVE to fly it, I get bad memories from playing the Crysis 1 campaign where I had to fly a VTOL, which flew like a hippo.

> scarab(not flying of course

When I first saw that you said “scarab” and not "campaign only, I was about to rip you a new one, and explain how overly powered this would be, and stuff, but I saw in your second post “Campaign, not MP”, which by the way, Edit buttons still works, YES THE DAMN THING, The scarab would be fun to take control for a little bit, as long as it’s not a “You need to drive this thing” deal, give me the option to drive it or let the AI take over.

> a huge ship like the forward unto dawn for example

This I’m really don’t agree with. This isn’t EVE online, or Star Trek Online, so lets leave the star ship flying out, yeah it’s fun, but I much rather not have it in the game.

yeah, a novel idea, but not practical…

go do the egg in Reach and fly the Pelican/Scarab and get it out of your system…

no one really wants to play Halo to be a taxi driver for spartans which is what the pelican basically is…

It would be cool if there would be sprint aiming down the site and stealth assassinations… oh and it would be cool if you could grab on to ledges and have a knife for melee… i would love H4 if they would do that… but even if they wouldnt do that it will be a beast game.

> in the campaign of course not in multiplayer

-.- HOW BORING! PUT IT IN MP!

> It would be cool if there would be sprint aiming down the site and stealth assassinations… oh and it would be cool if you could grab on to ledges and have a knife for melee… i would love H4 if they would do that… but even if they wouldnt do that it will be a beast game.

I agree with all of this except for maybe the aiming down the sights thing. Even though I would love this and highly support it, imagine putting that scope up to your VISR. I assume you can figure out why this would be just plain awkward. Also, if you read the books, you learn that the weapon is integrated into their VISR displaying an aiming reticle and allowing them to zoom in without using a scope (I may have lapsed with a few of the details).

But yes, this will be a -YOINK-ing beast game and I agree with everything else you said.
CAN’T WAIT FOR THE END OF THE YEAR
