New idea for progressing in a healthy way. (There may still be hope)

Hey guys, just wanted to start a new post around positive goal setting. A bunch of people are angry, I know I have been all over the place emotion-wise with this, but I have a legitimate idea to turn stuff around that could instill confidence back into the franchise and get players back on board.

A bunch of flack surrounds the microtransactions, the costs of items, the lack of free customization, and overall poor store items we have available. This isn’t the most aggregious problem, but it is adding to the stress of everything, and sort of blankets the whole game in negativity.

So what about this: awarding a small amount of credits per match. Yes. In game currency.

343 did this in halo 5, but the whole system was bogged down by loot boxes allowing you to bypass it. Loot boxes are the most hated type of microtransaction by gamers, so it hurt players perception of the system as a whole. However, there are many merits to awarding currency. 1, you award players for playing the game and gain player support. Your most dedicated of players get rewarded for being dedicated by getting cool stuff from the shop. 2, you still earn money. Whales will be whales. There will always be some 12 year old somewhere willing and able to max out their parents’ credit card for skins. Also, because of the U.I. limitations, the store’s rotation is limited, and thus incentives regular players to still buy stuff.

I think this would be very easy to pitch right now. I’m sure 343, and even microsoft, is very aware of player frustration right now. They could easily bring this up, and it shouldn’t be too hard to implement. Maybe tie it in to weekly rewards? Maybe add weekly quests that reward credits instead of xp?

It might sound a bit predatory still, but it would be a huge step in a better direction for the game, and clear up one of the biggest issues right now.

Thoughts?

An in-game currency system would be okay.
However, it would likely be too slow, making it almost useless.

I think they should do this instead.
  • Throw everything in each season into each season’s Battle Pass (making sure that it’s the same amount of content each season and that no content for the game is ever store-exclusive).
  • Increase the price of the Battle Pass to $30.
  • Remove the challenge swaps and XP boosts from the Battle Pass.
  • Make challenge swaps free but limit them to a few swaps each day.
  • Remove colors from/don’t add colors to the Battle Pass for armor, weapons, vehicles, visors and AI.
  • Add XP for winning matches, score/performance-based XP and medal-based XP.
  • Overhaul the challenges system (e.g. make them less weapon, vehicle and ability-focused and more objective and playlist-focused).

id be down for this, if they they paired it with being able to buy indiviual items from the stroe and getting rid of the fomo from said store

I think that game currency should replace challenge swaps in the battle-pass
