I like it. It’s a lot beta than the old one, but I still wish we had an off-topic section…
Looks pretty fine by me actually.

We all know how Off-topic works on other forums, it becomes a complete mess and peoples attitudes change drastically, they hop on over to the public regular forums and it becomes a flame fest, and considering the strict rules here, it’s a bad idea.
If you were here for the Gamma forums a few weeks back, you would see that the ‘Cat’ section was the off-topic section, and it didn’t exactly work out well either.
In the meantime, feel free to use the ‘Yo!’ topic.

No. Off-topic forums don’t always result into what B.net has become, it’s an oddity not the norm. And concerning the strictness, it’s become a lot more slack since the update, in case you haven’t noticed.
Rarely anyone visits “Yo” because it’s a poor substitute for a proper off-topic section, I don’t plan on posting anything in there. I didn’t bother checking out the gamma forums so I don’t know what happened in cat though…

See, this is what I don’t get, you mentioned B.net, I didn’t even mention it at all, out then 20+ forums I have been on, the off-topic section has always become a mess and spread to other forums as such.
Also, coming up to 10000 posts upon Yo, that’s barely a way to say no one visits ‘Yo!’, it’s the closest thing you will get to an Off-Topic forum, I prefer a peaceful community than a semi-peaceful with a ton of trolls.

When I bring this topic up with others people tend to point to B.net, that’s why. And funny, out of the 20+ boards I visit the off-topic section is peaceful and self contained.
Yo’s a thread full of a handful of spamming RPers with a few posts every now and then from people who are curious as to what the thread’s actually about, and promptly leave. It’s hardly decent substitute for an off-topic section as no discussion ever goes down in there.

True. How many people have that sig? It’s for active Yoers, correct? Only around 10. 10 active posters, almost 10,000 posts. Hm…

By the sounds of it your jumping to conclusion when you automatically assumed I would just refer to B.net, off-topic sections are a bad idea, they do more harm than help.
Also, about the so called ‘spammers’, that’s what Yo! is partly about, go nuts, have fun with friends talking off-topic about anything you want to do, it’s a perfect substitution if you ask me, I don’t go there too often, but when I do, it’s a good laugh.
Sounds like you just didn’t have a nice experience there or you were simply ignored.
Anyways, I’ve told you the facts, if there was going to be an off-topic section it would have came with the launch of the final Forum version and not later on.
> if there was going to be an off-topic section it would have came with the launch of the final Forum version and not later on.
I know, and I’m severely disappoint.
