So, one is new to Halo Reach, and is trying to get use to everything about it.
What items (accessories) would you recommend that one should start off with, i.e. purchase with currect credit, etc?

Nothing you purchase with credits effects your gameplay. they are all just visual flair for your character. You get zero benefits from armor choices.
Yeah, what Cal said. Just pick the ones you think make you look the coolest. I mean, even the EVA helmet in this game is cool.
