When I first heard about Halo 3: ODST I was so excited for it. I thought Bungie had made one of their best decisions with this game, sure it could’ve been a DLC but that’s a different story. I can remember seeing the live-action trailer and thinking: “This is going to be the best game ever!” Once I purchased it, it wasn’t at all what I had expected it to be. The story seemed somewhat bland and the ending really didn’t leave me very satisfied. My point is: The concept of being alone in a raining, dreary, dark, gloomy city was something new that the franchise could’ve benefited from. Sure its fun to play as Master Chief, but I would enjoy to play as just an average soldier every so often and experience the Halo universe in an entirely new and different perspective. I was getting a bit tired of the bright colors everywhere. Don’t get me wrong, all of the Halo games are still some of my favorite games, but it was nice to have a break from just playing as Master Chief. I’m hoping 343 Industries could maybe carry on the ODST franchise and maybe even later on remaster Halo 3: ODST’s graphics and such. The new games doesn’t necessarily have to be focused on just the Rookie’s story, I would just appreciate something that has what I thought should’ve been Halo 3: ODST. So anyway, this is just what I think, I’d be open to hearing more ideas.
If there is to be a spin off Halo game before 5, it should be from multiple perspectives on different sides. It would be fun to play as multiple people and enjoy multiple story lines.
This really needs to be posted in Halo 3: ODST section.
Your thread has nothing to do with the Halo Universe, covers no lore or anything of the sort.
Maybe the life of a Sangheili Ranger during the rebellion the UNSC Infinity helped the state of Vadam fight.
^ -Yoink- yea!!
With the Spartan-IV bringing spartan tech more “mainstream” i think ODST’s are on their way out.
I kind of wished they made ODST longer and more in depth because it leaves me wanting more.
Probably no room left for ODST’s in the HAlO 4 universe but would love to know what Buck was up to in New Alexandria during the REACH campaign.
now that it seems almost certain that we will be getting a new xbox in the next 18-months i think that if 343i is going to make another ODST game that they should hold off until the next-gen console comes out and then develop it as a expansion to Halo 5 (which i’m assuming will be a next-gen title).
Also like with H3: ODST because it isn’t a main series title it leaves room for a little experimentation; i liked the open/hub world of New Mombasa which with some refinement (and more light) would be something that i would like to see return. but i would also like to see added on top of that such as A FEW side missions just to keep things interesting (to many side missions tends to cause main mission quality to suffer); and so form of dialogue choice’s: maybe only one or two a level that make subtle differences (not the insane amount of Mass Effect or Fallout) to maybe squadmates or someones reaction to something and all these choices culminate in the second last mission have 2 or 3 variations depending on player choices but the final level would largely be the same regardless of choice though it would be impacted by which variation of the previous level you received such as who is with you or survives plus maybe whether you start with/in a scorpion, warthog or Falcon/Hornet.
either way i’m just throwing ideas out
I see this thread is slightly old, but after playing Halo 3 ODST campaign yesterday I hope more ODST games are made.
It could even be a side story to the original series…
I’d love to see what happened to Buck and the gang after the events of Halo 3, or even a different squad. Maybe around the time the Spartan IV program was getting started?
Imagine walking around a small area of a ship (UNSC Infinity or something), then going to the ODST drop pod bay and selecting a mission from a holographic map, then dropping in from the atmosphere (in first person of course) and doing a mission in an open world you just dropped into. Mind=Blown. I could see developers doing a lot of things with the idea. What if during one mission the ship was under attack, and you must defend it. Or if dangerous events would happen while you’re dropping (like when the carrier entered slipspace in Halo 3: ODST). What about going into the war games arena, and choosing where you would drop into battle? Or maybe it could be like a prelude to when the Covenant first attacked (You start the campaign fighting the Insurrectionists and then get attacked by the Covenant?). I don’t want the game to be exactly perfect with all of this stuff, I just think the game would have a lot of potential and wanted to show off some ideas that have been hiding in the back of my head.

That would be neat, it might even have a small tidbit of what Jun (from Reach) has been up to.
What if we gor an ODST game where we playec as Agent Clark.
i think the the “accidental” sneaking and stealth aspect coupled with the dark streets is really cool. i also like that just before you get bored wlking around and sad from the senery you get thrown into a big run and gun mission then back and fourth. also the la niour feel to looking for clues helps tremendously, and who can forget the beast sounding/hitting/lead slinging pistol.
lets just say if 343 made halo 5 odst and had all thouse bits coupled with amasing grphics and imroved map sise (the free raom) i will die from my absolute amasement
well halo 3 odst wasnt the best thing i played but it was fun i mean halo is about spartans and will be forever about spartans so i feel like there doesnt have to be another odst but it wouldnt hurt if they did make it
Now Buck is a Spartan IV, so it could be a cool plot dynamic to have the members who didn’t make it into the program have to deal with it while fighting the covenant.
