Tip #1 dont judge the game by its flaws. Lots of fun to be had with Halo 5.
Tip #2 Stick with Warzone Lobby and you should find players more easy
Tip #3 Use your mic lol

Thanks. I’m coming from Destiny 1 and 2 so judging a game by it’s flaws is an understatement
People still play without mics? Oh man

Unfortunately, that trend isn’t gonna change as long as party chat and other chat options are available.
Just warning you, the game will get stale very fast.

Ok appreciate it. Thanks

This is an extreme opinion, and not really accurate. I spent a good number of months with H5 before it got stale. Though I had a group of friends who played too, so that probably helped the longevity for me.

My recommendation is play some Warzone or Fiesta. There you can get some good practice getting into the game, its mechanics, weapons, etc. without having to really feel pressured to play well. Have some fun, shoot some rockets, flip your mongoose, -Yoink!- some poor victims, just enjoy yourself.

Yeah a few months sounds about right, you just proved my point.

In modes like firefight, it’s fine to play without a mic. I don’t use a mic because I prefer to listen to podcasts while I play.
Here’s some advice I would give to someone new to Halo 5: any Warzone playlist, including firefight, will become more fun as you unlock more reqs. So if you don’t like it at first, come back after you have some better loadouts and a decent collection of stuff to call in.
And remember to open silver packs until you unlock every common to rare thing, and then move on to gold packs. Otherwise you’ll be wasting req points. You can start with bronze packs if you want, but I don’t recommend it, because you’ll be fine without mongoose certifications. And if plain old slayer gets boring, try something fun like Action Sack or custom games. Infection is great, too.
Edit: one more thing. Buy the Voices of War announcer pack. It’s worth every penny
OMG. I want to get halo 5 SOOOOOOOOOO BAD!!!
Use bumper jumper and start with war zone firefight & campaign, and good luck

What’s the problem?
Warzone is hit or miss if you don’t like it there’s still plenty to do. I prefer arena but that’s where the “sweats” like to hang out. Make friends and you’ll have a blast
Be careful of the Sweats, they’ll turn your whole mood upside down
(I’m saying you’ll rage easily)
Legendary Campaign play through first is a must. Then Firefight on Heroic, your lack of req won’t matter as much, and you can rack up the XP and RP fast. Then BTB or any rotational playlist in social. Spend a good amount of time playing and getting some XP before jumping into Ranked.
Stay away from Warzone. It is very far from the OG Halo experience and it is currently very Req card dependent. Finally don’t listen to any of us and just play. Those of us who use these forums are way too opinionated for our own good, and are prejudiced for and against this game for having spent over two years playing it.
Good luck have fun!

lol, a good number of months is far longer than I’ve spent playing any other game in recent memory. A month at most for any of them. I’m not sure what you think you’re right about.

Yeah… don’t bother. New players always have a really bad time considering the aim mechanics, the level everybody else is at already, reduced population forcing players of vastly different leagues together, and you can’t find games in social because of how glitched the search system now is due to the update. Always lags out, kicks people before a game starts so it has to search all over again, just all round frustrating experience.
I legitely feel bad for new players in H5 right now. You are sheep being led to slaughter really. There are very few “new” players at this point in H5. Arena is very competitive no matter what mode really. And warzone well with no reqs and low population you will struggle. Now if some one was new to H5 I would offer the following advice. #1 play the campaign on normal and then maybe heroic as well. (Forget about that worthless “revive” BS as that isn’t part of multiplayer). Now for multiplayer it’s probably best to start with some heroic warzone firefight. This will help you get used to multiplayer mechanics and you aim perhaps. As far as arena you are probably going to get stomped almost anywhere so maybe start with some FFA or possibly some BTB. It’s hard to say really. But also don’t be afraid to check out the custom game browser for some games that may help once you learn the ropes. I hear quite a few do this “octagon”. Not sure what it is but some seem to say it helps them with multiplayer.
Now when it comes to opening req packs as a NEW player… Open bronze packs for awhile till req unlocks become scarce, aka you spend more than 5000 points for two unlocks that silver’s guarantee… Then open silver’s till they refund two 1500 point req cards instead of unlocks and then move on to golds. That is the fastest and best way to the reqs want.

I play without mics AND mute everyone when I hear people in chat. Actually I used to use a mic all the time, but it broke and I got out of the habit and haven’t gotten a new mic.

Start off in Super Fiesta and you will get a hang of all of the weapons pretty quickly.
