I’m sure most of you have seen the earlier post of the XBOX 360 magazine. What gun do you think he is holding?
The weapon formerly known as the Assault Carbine. It’s going to be an energy based human weapon that incorporates both human and forerunner technology. Most likely going to automatic, similar to the Plasma Rifle/Repeater but more useful for finishing rather than regulate it to a lame pummel club.

In the latest podcast they said that the “Assault Carbine” was a weapon that we had used in previous games, so it’s probably the Covenant Carbine.
All good guesses…Hope fully 343 will tell us what it is. Since the UK got to see it, and the US didn’t.

I listend to the Sparkast about four or five times in total but it was a weapon we used before. You are right about this but it was a weapon that was avoided and was known to be a depeleter (i.e pummel club/gun that is more effective on shields) rather than a finisher.
This new gun is a finisher.
So no way it can be the Carbine as the Carbine was a finisher, not a depleter and wasn’t avoided. Re listen to the sparkast, they use both these terms (finisher and depleter) when describing this new weapon
Three guns (both automatics) that meet the the criteria stated by 343 are:
The Spiker (Halo 3/Reach/ODST)
The Plasma Rifle( The original trilogy/Reach/ODST)
The SMG (Halo 2/Halo 3/ODST)

It has no scope so it must be a close range weapon
