New Halo 4 Avatar Items and new FUD design

So I don’t think anyone has brought this up yet but there are new Halo 4 Avatar Items in the marketplace. Most are pretty meh in my opinion but the thing that really caught my attention is the aft of the Forward Unto Dawn. It looks like it really confirms that the Forward Unto Dawn received a pretty heavy redesign that was really shown in the recent Mega Bloks unvealing of the FUD.

I find this a little odd because we’ve seen the original frigate design as recent as the E3 live action trailer alongside the Infinity.

So ya, what does everyone think of the new items and the “mini-Infinity” redesign of the Forward Unto Dawn?

At least it looks like it has the old UNSC symbol on the side of it. Otherwise, the change isn’t very drastic.

Does look a little odd. The only things that are missing are the 2 side engines, but yeah those are pretty big features. Not sure why they’d feel the need to completely change the look of the FUD. I hope that doesn’t mean all frigates are going to be redesigned. I love the look of Halo starships.

*double-post

It is a big change.

I didn’t like It at first.

But now I do.

This is really the UNSC infinity.

Then why does your link say

?

The Infinity avatar prop looks damaged, as if it was from the Infinity taking a crash landing from in the cutscene.

> This is really the UNSC infinity.

It isn’t though. Look, the Infinity doesn’t have those back “wings”. Nor does it have long poles sticking out the front.

I’m just curious why they decided to change it… I mean, the FuD was a pretty cool looking ship. And now that I think about it, it is weird that they would have the original design in the E3 live action film…

I’m hoping it was done for the sake of level design and not just because they could. Maybe there wasn’t enough space in the original aft, and as fun as it was, we don’t really need the repeat of The Maw’s level design.

I knew it all along! I told you guys!

does no one else realize this? The ship shown is the broken back-half of the FuD that Chief was stuck in. this is the part that broke off in the portal too short of earth, so it was ejected out randomly from the portal and was thrown out towards Requiem. This is not the full ship, only the Damaged half that chief was in

The ship was changed only to the point where it looks like it broke in half.

Man, that Warthog looks super dumb.

It will be a wild game, i’m so ready to play this!

Yes the avatar item of the Forward Unto Dawn is only the damaged aft section, as I said. But the Mega Bloks set that is coming out is of the complete FUD, you can even compare the avatar prop to the Mega Blok version and see the prop is the back half of the Mega Blok one.

I don’t think I would mind the redesign as much if they left the port and starboard engines on it so it could still have the iconic frigate shape. But with how it is, it is just a tiny version of the Infinity, causing both the Infinity and frigate to lose originality in it’s design.

agreed but wasnt expecting the avatar to get in that was pretty cool, i want a br or ar avatar prop and the gen 2 mjilnor or whatever there calling the new armor

While it does look like a pretty big difference, I don’t feel it’ll be too much of a big deal.

We won’t see much of the Dawn in Halo 4, and even then it’ll be heavily damaged. If we see it crash-landed… it’ll look like a burning heap of metal.

As long as all the Frigates aren’t made like that from now on, I’ll be fine with this. I liked the look of Frigates.

It’s a relief to see the old UNSC logo on the Dawn. Hopefully this means the new UNSC logo isn’t a retcon as suggest in some of the Halo 4 wallpapers, but is, in fact, an updated, post-war logo.

I hope we can get John’s Halo 4 armor on the Marketplace sometime.

The Forward Unto Dawn redesign is mostly irrelevant, IMO. In Halo 4, all that’s left is the aft end, who knows how much the hull has been whittled down by space debris, etc… and then it’s just getting torn apart when it gets pulled into Requiem and crashes.

My issue would be if 343 is redesigning the UNSC ships to reflect more with the Infinity. The UNSC frigates among other designs are some of my favorite spaceship designs.
