Really, there’s no comparison. Who invited this guy into 343?
EDIT: I’m not really being fair, as we’ve only seen two of the new guy’s songs, but both of them felt empty in comparison to Marty.
I think his music in some of Halo 4, especially in the Concept Art Trailer is reminiscent of Mass Effect. And I personally loved that soundtrack almost as much as Halo.
One Final Effort is the best video game song I’ve ever heard in my life. I personally think 343 should have hired Marty to do some of the music but stay working at Bungie if he wanted to.
I think that the man who composes the music for Halo is the most important person that should work on the next Halo games. If the original creator of the Halo music doesn’t create it than Halo will never have real Halo music again.
My thoughts exactly. Marty’s music is some of the most beautiful music I have ever heard. He’s a true modern genious of orchestration (calling him a modern Mozart or Bach might be going a little too far, but I like to think of him as one). He’s to video games as what John Williams is to movies, if John Williams could actually compose moving, emotional music like Marty does.
This new guy would never be able to match up to Marty no matter what. I had hopes for Halo Wars, but that OST ruined every potentially great moment by adding in some cliche cheese to the mix. And I have a feeling the same, if not worse, could happen to the next Halo installments as well.
Pokemon? I don’t hear it. Besides I think it really provides that feel of exploration and it really had the ‘Inception’-like feel to it at the 1-minute mark. We have only heard 2 songs from two teaser trailers and I really don’t think they would make a Halo sequel without putting in orchestra to there score - that wouldn’t make sense. Give the guy a chance, he has potential.
NOT stupid techno beats and horns that remind me of inception. while that type of music is great, it doesn’t belong in Halo.
Marty Needs to teach this new composer a couple of things about music. SERIOUSLY! 343 you need to give your old friend marty a call so he can give the new composer tips on how to make it sound halo.

LOlz you act as if Marty is the only composer in the world. The music fit perfectly well with the trailers.
First of all, the reveal trailer music was not music from 343 or its composer. It was instead music from IGN.
Second, we can’t really judge the music as of now since we have only seen the concept art glimpse. Personally, I think it defines a mysterious chapter in the Halo universe.
Don’t expect music similar to Marty’s. I know it’s hard to accept change, but this may end up being a healthy change for the new “reclaimer trilogy”.
Hey, I for one am very open and welcoming of this new music. It’s definitely nice to hear something other than repetitive orchestral music that has stuck with the major Halo games. ODST and Reach definitely had some nice changes audibly though, especially ODST.
Personally the first thing I thought with this music was Mass Effect and the Protheans. This brought a strong feeling of similarity to the Forerunners and their culture, and I think the music fits. It was not “Pokemon music.” And those farts? Horns. They gave a good sense of the massive size of Forerunner starships.
