New Grenade Ideas

I’m trying to think of a new grenade to add to halo. Most previous games have added a new grenade at some point, so i would love to see a new idea.

The only one i could think of would be a Needler Grenade. It wasn’t my idea and i know someone on here wrote it but if anyone can quote the right area i’ll credit them. It would have it be like a sticky grenade where it would stick to areas and the ground and not move. It would blow up the person next to it and do small amounts of damage to the players around it but it would be able to track the players for a little bit that tried to move away for a second or more before disappearing.

This idea could be expanded and worked on. Seems a little to like the sticky grenade for now.

EDIT: 4/26/2015

Best ideas -

  • Bubble shield Grenade: I don’t see the equipment coming back anytime soon so this would be a nice replacement. Kinda the only power grenade.- Shield Drain Grenade: A redesign to the Forerunner grenade to act more like the shield drain equipment from 3.Yes a lot of these are equipment but they worked and i see no reason they couldn’t create a smaller more compact for if needed

EDIT: 4/28/2015

Bubble shield has been retired, due to the idea that if thrown in reflex, it could aid the enemy team.

Shield Drain has still been the most favored grenade. Still would work like the pulse grenade but always would bring down shields instead of doing it slowly.

So kind of like the Axion Bolt grenade from Destiny?

Not needed. They have already made 4 separate grenades. No need to steal the Axiom Bolt from Destiny, as Admiral said.

Reminds me of the spiker with the needler concept.

They could bring the flare back in grenade form. They could make a lot of equipment into grenades actually, I think somebody had this idea a while back. Drop shield grenades would be cool, or a regen grenade would be great for teamwork.

These all had their place, in Halo 3. It’s just not a good idea (in my opinion), in Halo 5. They would have to rework ALL of the campaign to cater to these new grenades.

Didn’t know it was in destiny, never played it and even though there have been four grenades, they have recently not done the other two. I would like something to be added thats recent. i wouldn’t mind a flash bang, but its not something i would want.

Grenade ideas:
*Needle Grenade-This grenade will stick to any surface and then it will explode after a second. When it explodes, it releases several needles that injury players. It will have a somewhat large radius but low-medium damage. This is basically Halo 3’s Spike Grenade.
*EMP Grenade-This grenade will explode about 2-5 seconds after it is thrown. When it explodes, it will completely shut down the shields of enemy players and it will shut down vehicles for about 3-5 seconds. It won’t have any affect against players without shields and it will have a somewhat large blast radius. This can stick to players, vehicles, and other objects.
*Lava-like Grenade-This grenade (which is Promethean-based) will explode when it hits a surface. When it explodes, it will release some sort of Promethean lava or acid which will turn an enemy into ashes (like when someone is killed by a Binary Rifle and an Incineration Cannon). It will have a low radius but it will have very high damage.
*Black Hole Grenade-This grenade will explode when it hits a surface. When it explodes, it will suck all objects (vehicles, weapons, & players, etc.) into a black hole for about 3-5 seconds and then it will throw/launch the objects outward.
*Gravity Lift Grenade-When this grenade hits any surface, it will shoot out several gravity lifts which will be good for taking care of an enemy ground vehicle or player. The radius of the combined propulsion of the grav lifts will be pretty large. It will launch vehicles and players very high into the air so that when they land, the object will be damaged or the player may be killed. There will be a center grav lift and it will launch a player higher than the outside lifts.
*Regenerator Grenade-This grenade will explode upon impact. When it hits any surface, it will keep regenerating all ally players’ shields who are within the radius. The radius will be somewhat large and it will regenerate shields for about 6-12 seconds until it destroys itself.
*Smoke Grenade-This grenade will explode a couple of seconds after it hits a surface. When the grenade explodes, it will release a ton of smoke which will provide cover for you and your teammates. The smoke will last for about 15-30 seconds until it starts to disappear. The smoke radius will be very large, about the size of the scorpion tank (probably a little larger than the tank).
*Incendiary Grenade (Return from Halo 3)-This grenade detonated on impact. It would explode with fire and if it hits a player, they will catch on fire and dies within 2 seconds. It had a short radius and high damage.
*Tracker Grenade-When the grenade it throw, it will follow an enemy player if the grenade is thrown close to the enemy. If the grenade manages to stick to an enemy player, they will be highlighted on your screen and you will be able to see them through walls, etc. The tracker will work for about 25-40 seconds. If the grenade does not reach the target them it will explode into nothingness, causing no damage.
*Mine Grenade-About 2-4 seconds after the box-shaped grenade is thrown, the grenade will shoot out a handful of little mines all over the area surrounding it (the box). The mines will do about 30% of a player’s max health. The radius of the minefield will be about the diameter of a warthog.

Yeah, I always loved the flare from H3 and a drop shield grenade sounds pretty cool. And the regen nade.

God I hate that bloody grenade with a passion my god, if we were to put it in Halo, we should only be able to carry one.

> *EMP Grenade-This grenade will explode about 2-5 seconds after it is thrown. It won’t ahve any affect against players without shields and it will have a somewhat large blast radius. This can stick to players, vehicles, and other objects. Just… no. This will just be ABUSED in every aspect. Flags, bombs, etc., anything that is objective. This would DESTROY people being able to guard their flag.
> *Lava-like Grenade-This grenade (which is Promethean-based) will explode when it hits a surface. > *Black Hole Grenade-This grenade will explode when it hits a surface. When it explodes, it will suck all objects (vehicles, weapons, & players, etc.) into a black hole for about 3-5 seconds and then it will throw/launch the objects outward. …where the hell do you expect for them to do to these things while it’s in a black hole? A regular grenade is used to take away shield, or just kill someone straight outright. You want them to DISAPPEAR into a black hole, for 3-5 seconds, THEN you get to attack them? Do you understand how LONG 3-5 seconds is in a battle?
> *Gravity Lift Grenade-When this grenade hits any surface, it will shoot out several gravity lifts which will be good for taking care of an enemy ground vehicle or player. ALL of these ideas so far are ridiculous.

> *Incendiary Grenade (Return from Halo 3)-This grenade detonated on impact. It would explode with fire and if it hits a player, they will catch on fire and dies within 2 seconds. It had a short radius and high damage. Same crap as your previous post, but a different name.

NONE of these can be used in Campaign, and that’s when they normally bring a new grenade into a game, by showing why it’d be useful, in campaign.***Mine Grenade-About 2-4 seconds after the box-shaped grenade is thrown, the grenade will shoot out a handful of little mines all over the area surrounding it (the box). The mines will do about 30% of a player’s max health. The radius of the minefield will be about the diameter of a warthog. Again, from Halo 3, but has multiple mines versus one.
> NONE of these are worthwhile to bring into PVP, or campaign. You either took it from Halo 3, or from CoD for a majority of these.

The only two i kinda like from the above post is…

The Regen Grenade
&
The Mine Grenade

The Regen Grenade would be only one per person. I feel like it would be like the Pulse Grenade now, except healing. Lets all face it, the pulse grenade sucked. I couldn’t use that thing correctly and it didn’t work well unless the person was there when it opened or exploded. Even then it was still a a pain. It would work mostly like that and fully heal anyone close when it exploded at the end. Kinda like the AA in Halo 4 but throw-able and not as big of an area.

The Mine Grenade i could work with. Same a before. If its been in Halo 3 i wouldn’t mind a small bit of change to it. I don’t remember where that was in halo 3 but still. I feel like it would work a lot better with vehicles and should disappear after a few seconds as well.

how about a grenade that depletes ammo by 1/2. Obviously it’s not something that we would want spammed in the game but could be really useful when limiting an oppenents rocket or snipe ammo

I just want my incinerator and brute spikes back.

> I just want my incinerator and brute spikes back.

i feel like the spike grenades were just sticky grenades. that’s all i ever used them for. and i never once found an incinerator grenade in matchmaking.

Its not something i could see going well, even if you hit the person, think if you hit a teammate, they would mot certainly want to kill you.

i would use the Black Hole Grenade, it would add some interesting game play

Flood Carrier Grenade.

It would bounce a set number of times, hit the ground, swell up like a balloon, pop, and indiscriminately scatter Flood Infection forms everywhere.

Also, Tenkay, I believe some might call these ideas you shoot down, “evolutions.”

How about something which is less powerful then traditional grenades, but can be thrown in a straight line. It would add a precision quality that gives you more control as a player to direct its damage, but at the price of power.

hmmmm i like this idea. I mean it defies all the laws of physics but i like a straight stick grenade with half the power.
