New "Gametype" Voting System!

Many complain about the voting round system, and how it deals with tie breaks. I have come up with a simple yet what I feel is an effective idea.

Simply, only the MAP is selected at random. All gametypes within a playlist are available to be voted for, so the game is chosen for the gametype not the map. Instead of “None of the above” there is a “Different map” option. You pick the options in the same manner we currently do. the process can be repeated twice, after that the map locks, to prevent trolls while maintaining a better chance of getting the map the group wants. Voting rounds take 10 seconds, and you change your vote in the first 7 seconds, after that it is locked. This deters the vote trolling. also, if the gametype choice is a tie, it is randomly selected between the Tieing choices, on the current map. if there is a tie on map and gametype, a new round of voting starts on a new map, as the previously chosen gametype might not be as good as another on the new map.

What do think of this simple system?

This is my thoughts on the ideal voting system. It is a mix of the others.

There is 2 voting rounds. The vote is a blind vote until the actual selection has been made at the end of the vote counter, then the votes for each is shown.

You get 1 vote only per round.

You get the choice of 3 maps, with game types. Plus there is the 4th option, call it veto, or none of the above they would do the same thing.

After everyone votes, if a map has higher votes than all the others it is then loaded.

If however, the map chosen is tied with another, or none of the above is selected, you go to a second round, and you repeat the above. The difference between this round and the 1st is that a tie, or none of the above is selected, you then get a random map and game type.

Trolling will be kept to a minimum because the vote is kept secret until it is complete, and the fact you get only 1 vote.

Blind voting is the way to go, IMHO. Too much pretend game theory going on when you see how others vote. Many times people wind up not voting for their favorite, but the lesser of two evils.

I still think mixing objective and slayer gametypes is a bad idea from both a ranking and voting point of view. A more robust game with a healthier population could easily maintain a playlist for every gametype - getting there is the rub, though.

I still say Gears has it right: Choose from two maps, if they tie, a new map is chosen randomly.

Honestly the veto system is the best.

I’d prefer veto system with equal weighting on everything or an improved Reach/Halo 4 voting system where a tie actually means a tie and restarts the voting.
