New Gametype/Variant Ideas

This thread is dedicated to sharing ideas for new gametypes and variants of those that already exist.

To start it off, here are a few I thought of recently:

Chieftain- a variant of Juggernaut in which the juggernaut takes the form of a Brute Chieftain. As the Chieftain, the player is obviously armed with a Gravity Hammer (infinite ‘ammo’), recharging shields, and “stick-resistant” armor (cannot be stuck by plasma grenades). The Chieftain is also immune to headshots until his headdress is shot off and can only be assassinated when shields are down.

Capture the Hammer- obviously a variant of CTF in which the flag is a Gravity Hammer. I honestly think this would be most interesting with a neutral flag, rather than two-sided.

Also, I saw a rather promising idea in this thread.

Do you have any ideas or comments? If so, please comment.

To make this balanced will take lots of work, but I’m sure 343 could pull it off.
There would be 2 teams, and each side would take turns defending and attacking an objective. Sounds simple right? Well here’s where it gets interesting. The defending team would get a certain amount of time to forge a defensive base around the area they need to protect.
What do u think? BTW I thought the chieftain idea was great.

Aside from the potential technical issues with having Forge and Matchmaking/gametypes playing back-to-back, I can’t see how you could limit the Forge options in this without rendering the building aspect rather moot. By this, I mean many unfair setups could be made using scripted/time-spawned objects, weapons, etc.

In theory, you could have the “building” team have to complete it to confirm it’s possible, but even then it seems like it would be tedious, time-consuming, and most people wouldn’t be able to create anything worthwhile (within a reasonable timespan that the other team wouldn’t mind waiting through).

Very interesting idea, but it seems like there would be too many obstacles/shortcomings for the vision to be realized and reasonably playable in Matchmaking.
