New gametype suggestion

So, I think the bots in infinite are a really cool addition. It seems like devs might be planing on either leaving them in as a full team of opponents for warmup purposes or subbing them in when a teammate leaves the game. This will be great for people who play matchmaking by themselves with randoms.

Anyway I think there could be another really good use of the ai technology and customization in games that have full teams of human players. I’m just pitching this and am welcome to any suggestions, but there could be a gametype called Hero Slayer. It would give teams the ability to call down a Spartan to help them with the fight!

Not sure how you would obtain this Spartan, maybe a kill streak or a target designator pickup. But it would be cool if you could pick a different Spartan based on the area of gameplay where you needed the most support. If your team liked to hang back maybe call in Fred to keep the other team at Bay with his knife skills. Call in Linda for distance support if you team likes to charge. Maybe John for all around help. Might be too much to be able to command them around the battlefield, but maybe have them call out things that they are doing similar to how the new talking AI helpers do.

I think this would be really fun, but also add a lot of extra work for Sara Stern and the rest of the AI team to customize the code for each hero.

Let me know what you think!

I never thought I’d see bots in a halo multiplayer, and they have done such a good job with them, of course there are still some balancing, and fixing small things like them getting stuck behind pillars etc to be done, some of which they did improve on in 2nd flight.
Over time there will be new game types, something similar to what you say could be a possibility one day, who knows what’s coming, should definitely have a chuck a grunt game type now that grunts can be thrown through the air, that would just be so funny and chaotic

Yeah I agree the bots could use some fine tuning, but they have made them pretty competitive without seeming like perfect machines. I just think it would be super epic to see a Spartan drop from the sky and start tearing a team up. I think it would be cool to strategize with your team to try to take them out.

The throwing mechanic is fun for sure. Some kind of grapple game where you have to score grunts by throwing them in goals when they are running around would be hilarious :joy:.

I do agree the bots are pretty great and I sometimes have a hard time distinguishing them from real players. I like the idea of being able to earn and call down an actual Spartan II to help you in battle. However unless you make them into a bullet sponge they could probably be taken out relatively easily by any amount of team fire or a power weapon. I don’t think 343 wants to lean in the direction of a bullet sponge for any of the multiplayer bots since they have stated they don’t want the bots to have anything in terms of gameplay or information that a normal player would not have access to. But as a fun action sack mode I’d love to see something like a Boss battle mode where they would drop in one of these Hero Spartans that you mention and then both teams would have to fight to either get them on your side or maybe fight to kill the boss first. I’d also love to see modes that let you do crazy stuff with the equipment.

I 100% could see this being the sort of thing that pops up in Forge.

Yeah that’s a good point about them being bullet sponges. I definitely would not like to see that. At the most they could have like an overshield. I think they could be epic in other ways. Maybe Fred could have a longer lunging ability with knives or be able to throw them and kill you quickly if your not near cover. Kelly would be hard to kill cause she’s just too dang fast. Chief could be really lucky and dodge a lot of shots that were going to kill him. Or maybe they could throw down different equipment that players don’t have access to like full bubble shield and things. I’m also thinking some of the none health related skulls in MCC that made enemies hard to kill on Laso. Tough luck, cowbell and maybe a more conservative version of catch would be a good start. Though I think the best way to make them better would be to take more of their natural abilities out of their lore.
