New Gametype: Space Battles

Halo reach introduced an interesting campaign mission in space. However this was shortlived, and only for campaign.
However, star wars battlefront 2 (why havent they made a third) has proven that space battle works.
Therefore I would love halo to take on that perspective.

Vehicles include: Banshees, sabres and seraphs (all used within the space battles in reach).
Other vehicles should be the longsword (another fast single person vehicle for fighting). Like star wars battlefront, there will also be transport ships for some game modes, the pelican and phantom (hopefully these will be used in normal maps aswell). There could also be other vehicles, a hawk/hornet or flacon could also be used, aswell as a spirit drop ship, or some new vehicles.

There are 3 gametypes that I can think of, all of which provide a different experince.

The first is a standard dogfight. Each player will either a, spawn in a ship of their choosing/a fixed ship (could be humans vs covenant eg.), or from a bay in which there will spawn a variety of ships. It is then a slayer based game. A docking bay like a ship (think star wars battlefront) could be good as it means if all the ships are destroyed a player will have to wait for a new ship to spawn. Either many of each ship will appear or some ships will be limited, meaning different ships must be used.

The second gametpye is similar to star wars battlefront. There are 2 ships, and both teams have an objective. This could be to capture the flag (requires a transport ship?) plant a bomb, capture a territory or just get into the ship and destroy it. To do this both teams must fight through the space to get to the ship. Team members spawn on the ship, and can either stay on it, or enter a spaceship. There will also be guns people on the ship can use to attack the enemy sapceships. these could also be destroyed.

The third gametype is a one sided version of the above. One team must assault a ship and complete an objevtive. Both this and the above could also be done in stages, like a 1/2way invasion match.

It could also be that these ships could be a forge object (limited of course). I know many invasion/ other gametypes friends have wanted to make with ships being docked on land or whatever.

People’s opinions on space battles, improvements to the above or gametypes they would like to see would be appreciated.

Same EXACT thing i was thinking of, i even had Starwars Battle Front and Battlefield 1943 in my mind while thinking about it, but it most likely wont happen sadly. :frowning:

I agree, this is what 343 should be doing, not stupid weapon attatchments. I don’t think any console game has a multiplayer like this so it would give people a reason to buy the game

I agree with all of you above. Weapon attachments don’t deserve to be in Halo; there’s other games that take that gameplay into account. Good games like SW: BF and 1942 don’t have attachments, and they’re amazing games.

Having flight/space battles are an amazing aspect to large sandbox games, like Halo. Battlefield has it down, so if they’re going to go and push the boundaries of new gameplay, space would be a great way to do it.

Yea it is a worry for me that things the community generally want, such as the removal of aa’s, certain features etc won’t be taken into consideration by 343i, and that would be sad, as it is the community that makes this game and knows what it should have.

They are doing weapon attatchments? Where did people hear this? That sounds absolutely awful!

It’s basically a rumor as of now, but the Halo 4 trailer shows a grenade launcher type attachment to his pistol, which got people worrying (or excited depending on your view).

Ah ok, is that an attatchment? I thought it was a new kind of mine launcher type weapon. Although for some reason my dual wielding thread i produced has been incorporated into another dual wielding forum (i have no idea why that is) that was my suggestion for a dual wield weapon, where it works like a mini grenade launcher, with a “hold the trigger for controlled detonation” kind of thing.

It sounds more like an action packed movie… I LIKE IT!!

Yes. But more than 16 players.

I used to play Battlefront 2 ALL THE TIME, and this would be an awesome edition to Halo. I thought I was the only one with this idea, cause all my friends thought it was a stupid idea. (Why haven’t they made a BF 3?)

Way to bump an ancient thread!

Lol, that’s funny. Guy just goes to like page 523 of the forum and picks a thread to bump, haha!
