I’m super hyped for Infinite gameplay after the reveal. But I had a few revelations of really cool mechanics that would make the gameplay in the huge sandbox world even more personal.
Basically it’s AI-integrated gameplay with multiple perspective viewpoints. It allows for a variety of FPS and 3rd person gameplay styles and abilities.
You can play as the AI or FPS, and you have options to select your loadout to play either FPS or 3rd person for both AI and the master chief.
*I’d also think it would be really cool to make a battle royale where you play as a marine and upgrade for Spartan or ODST drops. Commander class lets you control ODST or marine or Spartan bots. But that’s a separate idea.
Examples:
View Select:
FPS
Abilities (diff for each class specialist)
Default: FPS normal
Basic: 3rd person camera change.
Sniper: AI provides aim assist.
Thermal
AI
Movement option: point click, or WASD / Joystick.
Default: 3rd person view.
if point click mode, then option for right joystick for camera free look 360.
Target lock to choose enemies.
Chief shoots targets like a bot. Aiming can be improved with upgrades or training… maybe
Abilities (diff for each AI, like in Halo Wars)
3rd person assist: tiny circles predicting enemy movement in front of them (like flight games). Right Joystick for moving the AI crosshair over those circles
to help chief shoot more accurately. *The cool thing it’s still 3rd person.
Sniper seer: AI (you) have to hit the right zone (like Star Wars Battlefront 2 cool down for heat) on the vertical and horizontal axis (left and right joystick).
Chief is in movement lock. Targets are locked on. Hitting the zones would be faster than FPS aiming probably.
- Also note that maybe in this game the sniper would have more recoil, like in COD games, making this ability more effective.
- Or you just have the “3rd person assist” when zoom in for scope.
New Melee options: with 3rd person view now, while Chief is aiming in front, you can do a AoE backkick if you see an enemy behind you. Or better reaction time
to activate armor lock. Infinite possibilities.
*Note, both FPS and AI modes have diff passive upgrades for your counterpart, and active upgrades for yourself. Such as better passive stats, etc. I mean it might be too late for infinite to incorporate this all, but if it really is open world, then you should be able to open crates for upgrades right? Like in Warzone?
New Game Mode: Tower Control: Battle for the Ring.
Now that you can play as the AI, you have the option to battle for the tower control while Chief is still alive to protect you.
FPS mode: you let the AI finish the variety of puzzles (one given, many options, like classic Tetris or Snake or Planetary Corruption resources game, or reaction based combos).
As Chief, you defend the zone better.
AI mode: As the AI, you finish the puzzles faster. Against other AIs that are potentially inside the same tower. *That’s the cool part. AI vs AI combat. In the split screen maybe you can see chief how he’s doing. Point click to tell him to take cover even while you are inside the control point.
All in all, the new AI mode is to help Chief really distinguish him from the normal marine (if playable, that would be even cooler) with the help of 3d free look 360 for reactive combat gameplay. Remember the ODST bashing image? I can’t find it on the web, dang it, it was in the Halo Encyclopedia. Chief bashing ODST with batons all around him.
