New Game mode Idea: Warfront

The Basics:

Warfront is a large, 20v20 gamemode on extremely large maps. The game mode’s score is obtained through Bases, like those in Dominion, and by getting kills(1 pt).

Players spawn with an Assault Rifle and Magnum, along with a Frag Grenade.

Spawn Base:

The Base has several segments:

-Armory: used to equip weapons and abilities. Also holds the bomb.

-Garage: used to spawn in ground vehicles.

-Airstrip: used to spawn in air vehicles.

-Barracks: Spawn room. Also holds the Briefcase

Secondary objectives(10 pts each):

Landing Zone(KOTH): secure the landing zone for ordnance and supply caches.

Assault: plant the bomb in a section of the enemy base. When it explodes, the section it was in is disable for 30 seconds.

Intel(CTF): grab the enemy briefcase and bring it back to base.

Uplink(Extraction): upload a virus into communication arrays. After uploaded, these arrays mark nearby enemies.

The game ends when the score limit is reached.

64v64? Can that even be done on Xbox one? Maybe a 30v30 though.

Battlefield 4.

Maybe 64v64 is a little overkill, but the whole purpose of the game mode is to feel like your in one of those epic battles we’ve seen in the backdrops of the campaigns.

Isn’t Battlefield 4 32v32 though?

Ah. Haven’t played it in forever.

> Ah. Haven’t played it in forever.

Well there are other games that have had larger player counts like the ps3 game MAG(128 vs 128) but games and gamemodes that support large groups of players never have the right map designs to go along with it.

I will say, it certainly is original and exciting in description. But the large question remains: Is it even possible?

The largest issue in your gametype are the numbers. 64v64?! Those maps would have to be excruciatingly enormous to even just barely squeeze in that amount. We’re talking 124 different players in a single game. Now, I’m not stating this as an insult, but sometimes, certain playlists in Halo 4 (and Reach, too!) don’t even top that requirement. If this was to happen, it’d be balancing on faith that people would play it if they even want to have one match running at a time.

On top of that, how long would it take to find an online match? Maybe it’s my connection, but I trouble finding a 5v5 Capture the Flag match. Halo Xbox One was claimed to have cloud servers, and high FPS rate… so I’m not going to talk the ever looming threat of lag. Though even that power might not be able to handle those numbers.

But overall, great, just a great idea. Take down the numbers perhaps, like Snail said. I like the feel of all-out chaos too.

Oh, but a DMR or Battle Rifle instead of an Assault Rifle too, if you’re aiming for big. Just makes sense.

I wanna say yes to 64v64, but i also wanna say no…
It would be hella awesome, as i love vehicles, and huge battles are awesome as well, but it doesn’t fit Halo very well (also, 128 players is a huge stretch for a console game, let alone a Halo game, even with dedicated servers)

> Intel(CTF): grab the enemy briefcase and bring it back to base.

This is Halo, not TF2. IMO it would make little sense to be capturing a briefcase.
Why would the UNSC hypothetically spend an entire army to capture a briefcase?

Spartans are soldiers, not Spies
I think a simple Flag would work better, fits the “UNSC training” theme.

First thing that came to mind. Maybe it should be a computer pad or something.

Its not supposed to be a spartan training thing, just like BTB x9001 or whatever. I did like Infinity’s concept, but it blocked out features that made the game awesome.

64v64 with otherwise normal ‘Halo’ mechanics would be awful. As would 32v32, 16v16, even 12v12 is pushing it.

The balance of the weapons, mechanics, and general balanced would have to be so heavily changed it will be Halo in name only.

If we want large scale gameplay set in the Halo universe spin-offs are the only viable option that won’t piss off fans of the original formula even more.

That said I would love a large scale game set in the Halo universe and I don’t want to see it shackled by the original series at the same time.

I say yes to this but 64vs64? That would be insanely laggy even if they have really good dedicated servers and high FPS. Bump it down to 45vs45 at the max. Also I don’t really like the breifcase idea for this gamemode but maybe in another one Beacause the UNSC isn’t stupid enough to send a whole army of Spartans just to get a breifcase, huge waste of rescources and then there’s 44 people escorting him? Think getting the breifcase should be maybe 6vs6.

Every time.

NO IT DIDNT! Lies!moneyTimePShalozf$$$microswaftti et time timeline ,timeTIMETIME$$$TIMEhtimembvcsa,kh…

I’ll go now… -

That’s way too large for a Halo game. Just bring back and expand upon Invasion but maybe increase the cap to 24 players.

I think we could handle 16v16.

I had an idea almost identical to this months ago. I’ll post it here:

“Warzone”
