New game mechanics for halo infinite

I think evade should be in Halo infinite.
To evade press Sprint and crouch while moving in a direction.
It would take a thruster recharge to do just like the thrusters in Halo 5.
This way you have more ways to Dodge bullets or evade grenades.
What do you guys think?

Sounds like a worse version of thrusters. A lot of players don’t like thrusters now because a player can use them any time and escape a fight. It cheapens a lot of battles. However, you can still take a shot on someone who is thrusting. Evade allows players to fling themselves even further and with their heads tucked in. So, players would be able to escape and do it without any risk of getting hit.

If we have playable elites i could see them having evade or camo to counter thrust/sprint etc for spartans. But I certainly dont wana see anything like that for spartans we already have too many abilities we should be cutting them not adding more.

When evading, you would travel half the distance as thrusters. Combat movement only.

I agree completely. Cut some abilities out and reduce the clutter on the controls. Halo 5 feels like a jumbled mess. Classic gameplay please and thank you.

That would make it entirely useless. In what situation would you ever want to use it (assuming thrusters are still in the game). You can’t use it while in the air and it moves you less than thrusters = useless. And it wouldn’t make much sense anyway, seeing as though evade in Halo: Reach moved much further than thrusters.

And I entirely agree with the others in this thread. 343i should be removing abilities not adding more.

If 343i really want Infinite to return to halo roots, thrusters should not be added back

This. If we keep abilities or whatever they should only be pickups like in Halo 3.

343i should make us walk faster like in old school Halo so we don’t need sprint. And they don’t need to space out the maps so that they have to accommodate for sprinting. If you get into a fight then finish the fight. Sprinting away shouldn’t be an option. I think it messes up the pace of the game.

I do like clamber, though.

I’d prefer we drop thrusters. they were fun in halo 5’s grif ball but the rest of the game would be better without em imo. though if playable elites return maybe spartans could have limited sprint while elites have evade. might spice up the gameplay a bit and give people a reason to try out spartans and elites for reasons other than looking cool.

overall though, I’d like clamber to stay and have halo 3 style equipment. I’m fine with what ever they do with sprint. it’s never really affected how much I like the game, but i’d probably leave in a modified version of sprint or something since most modern shooters have it so it’d be easier for players who are switching between games.

I feel like a lot of the mechanics from Hloa 5 should be simplified. The only things that should stay are clamber and evade, but evade should be on a high time rate and used in conjunction to shields (like how sprinting caused your shields to not recharge).

I also agree with what you say, except for clamber. To me, clamber eliminated some skill with crouch jumping and nade jumping. I really missed doing that in Halo, but with clamber, you can get to almost anywhere with very little skill. Pretty sad about that.

That’s pretty fair. It might be like sprinting in that way. If they got rid of it then they could make the maps a bit more compact and made things that weren’t climbable using crouch jump climbable using crouch jump.

That or if it’s too high, you utilize nade jumping like we used to and get up there. Because that was a lot of fun to get that tricky nade jump, get up somewhere awesome and people see you and go " how’d you get up there?! " and to those who would try after you, if the can’t get up, they didn’t have the skill or would mess up too much so only a few who were good at it could get there. That was always so much fun. Also, I wouldn’t mind too much if sprint was not infinite. If you could only sprint in short bursts like in Halo Reach or something that’d be okay for me. But to be able to constantly run and stay away or outrun battles is really lame. That’s why I believe classic gameplay should make a big comeback but just expand or experiment with armor abilities and pick ups like 3 and Reach. There’d be so much you could do with that without locking it all onto your character by default and make your controls so cluttered. A very big reason I stopped playing Halo 5 (other than my personal opinion on the art style and things like that and the mechanics) was that there was one specific mechanic always getting in my way of assassinating. I’d sprint for not even 3 seconds and be perfect to assassinate someone (something I loved doing thanks to Reach and Halo 4) and I’d just shoulder bash them and they’d immediately spin around to face me while flying further away from me and two piece me. I had to always catch myself to slow down before making the assassination but these people would constantly sprint and I’d never be able to slow down quick enough to grab them for it. That always frustrated me.

How about no dumb mechanics that muddle the gameplay further. 343 needs to simplify the gameplay to highlight it’s uniqueness if they want to make a successful Halo.

I think 343 should take a step back and make the gameplay like Halo 3, with Reach’s assassinations. That’s it. Then just polish up the guns, maybe add a few new ones, and really nail down the environmental design. Focus on the exploration…

In my opinion all these players that complain about the H5 movement mechanics are not performing well in H5. they complain because they cant get the kill on certain players that took the time to master the mechanics of H5 , Or constantly getting Merked because of lack of skill. If I was getting killed in halo 5 all the time and no matter how much time I put in to the game do you think I’m going to say that H5 is a great game? In my opinion it takes more skill to master the fluidity of movement in H5 in so many different levels. when I ask players who complains about H5 movement they always refer back to H3 and how they use to dominate and how simpler it was. Key word “simpler” Times have changed guys get over it… people have MCC that you can play and visit the game that they loved so much… look at a game like Apex and a game like Black ops 4, they have advance movement mechanics and the new audience loves it , younger players are playing and killing it. how are we going to nerf movement to accommodate OG players when the goal is to get new players to play H6 and have a bigger audience. H5 is not perfect but having HCS settings now in arena is well balanced with advanced movement mechanics. I wish they keep the mechanics the same and give us better servers, better maps , and better weapon selection and a more refined matchmaking ranking system. last note I was literally getting killed all the time it took me 6 to 8 months to get the hang of the game and start building skill eventually I became a champ in slayer and arena but some players don’t have that dedication to continue the grind and get better they just wanna complain and hope things change to accommodate them.

IM with you there, but I think a basic roll like the Marines have would be better for infinite than thrusters. I mean they are using older model armor that shouldn’t have thrusters so for lore sake it makes sense. Side note: Sprint is a must have. It allows infinite to be a big, more open environment and for the people who say remove Sprint, halo 2 was supposed to have Sprint. Every modern shooter should have Sprint because it allows for better environments.

People don’t complain about halo 5 because it hard they complain because its a mess of too many buttons, too many abilities, and the mist incredible bullet magnetism. Too much is going on and its completely unrefined

I don’t know why you’d assume this. Halo lost it’s unique qualities with 4 and 5 and so is less fun to a large amount of people. I think for most, it’s as simple as that.

I rather like this idea, but for campaign, rather than MP, for two reasons. First, this could allow for a difference in play style, should 343I have both Chief and Spartan Locke campaign/story levels. If the Chief is reverting back to an older variant of Mjolnir-unless he’s outfitted with a prototype variant of the GEN 3 system (GEN3 is hinted at in the Spartan Field Manual), then he maybe less reliant on the armor’s abilities, and use his natural reflexes, in which an “evade” mechanic would be ideal. Maybe the GEN 3 could have a faster base movement speed, possibly weaker shields but stronger armor, so that instead of relying solely upon tech, Master Chief and the rest of Blue Team have to use their enhanced physicality, unlike the Spartan IVs and thier GEN 2 Armor. They may have faster sprint speeds, and stronger shields, but weaker armor, and are more reliant on the thrusters and armor tech.
Secondly, this could be an easy explanation as to why there is a shift in art direction. Plainly, it’s new tech with a throwback armor appearance.
