So one of my favorite missions in all of Halo is the mission Long Night of Solace where you get into a Saber and fight covenant ships in space before boarding a covenant ship and destroying it. So I had the idea, what if 343 made a halo game focused on space battles between ships as a game not attached to the master chiefs story like ODST and Halo Wars. In the Halo universe and lore, there are so many awesome space battles and ships on both the UNSC and covenant side of the war. the halo games in the past haven’t shown the true extent of the space battles that happen in the game. maybe allow the players to take part in some of the major battles such as the defense of earth in halo two, the defense of reach or the assault on the ark. there are tons of possibilities for games that haven’t been touched on by 343 or Bungie back when they were in charge of the franchise. maybe let us customize our own ship to command or fighters allow us to play with covenant fighters and ships as well maybe even taking control of elite ships in the battle for the ark would be extremely fun.
Seeing as Halo has established itself as a serious sci-fi at this point with tons of races, technology and history, I think there are numerous themes and game genres spin-offs could take. While a flight-sim or flight-focused Halo game wouldn’t be my first choice for a spin-off, I would love it and it would really expand the barren wasteland that is quality flight games.

there are a ton of possibilities and I enjoyed the ship battles of assassins creed black flag as well the air to air combat of ace combat and of course the small sections of air combat throughout the Halo games we have. but I always found myself wanting more of battles in the air then on the ground especially in reach and Halo 3. it would be an enormous waste of opportunity if they don’t branch the franchise into more genres. an air-focused one just happens to have some of the biggest appeals to me personally. but I think most fans of the game can agree that expanding the horizon of the Halo franchise would be a welcome change. as well as get people who don’t play halo interested in the game. my biggest fear is that after halo infinite they will let the game side of the franchise run dry or get stale.

Considering we already have an RTS, twin-stick shooter, and miniatures board game official spin-off game of non-FPS genres, I expect there to be a number more in the future. I’m not sure if there’ll ever be a flight-based game since they don’t sell very well generally speaking. But then again, I wouldn’t count twin-stick shooters as being major sellers either.
But I tend to agree. I’d at least like to see more flight-based missions. It’s fun to be able to take a break from the standard gameplay in a mission or 2 every game. I enjoyed that about Long Night of Solace.

me too as I said it’s one of my favorite missions and it’s just sad to know that there are so many amazing ships in the Halo universe that we might never get to fully experience in the games.
That sounds interesting, custom ships and such.
Would be a neat idea, would have to see how it would work in multiplayer, maybe spawn on a UNSC Ship and you jump into a fighter.

yeah or maybe have something similar to world of tanks for larger ship battles where you can customize your own ship before spawning into games
Enjoy an old Concept boys. This might be just as good as a cup of tea. Maybe even better.
Halo: Void Thread 1
Halo: Void Thread 2
I love the idea! I would not mind more storyarcs separated from MC’s like ODST.
I do like flying, and I felt Long Night of Solace was a very well made mission, so I am down for a spin-off that is a bit more flight orientated
